Of all the teams in the relegation scrap, Forest are the one I want to stay up. Have no idea what’s about to happen, but if Villa were to lose, I wouldn’t begrudge Forest those crucial three points. Which is why I’m not down the pub watching with my Forest mate.
So, I got drunk with him last night, instead, and we dissected Villa, Emery, Forest, Cooper and everything in between in great detail. He’s very complimentary when it comes to Villa and the job Emery has done.
Bottom line, come on Villa, but if we’re going to be winners, let’s please be worthy winners.
Can’t think of anything else to say really.
Over to you.

Just think that Bailey is too frail for the PL.
Yeah, can’t believe he’s hurt again, jbd. Just ended up being completely useless.
Feel for the guy, think he’s an honest player, but…
Beyond Bailey, very poor half. Third game in a week, Forest desperate and holding to a good plan, but it’s all very out of sync. `
Bertie….2 in 2.
Please can we keep Bertie fit.
Nice goal there, Ollie.
It’s a win, but Emery won’t be at all happy with that.
Seemed like a tired looking game. 3 points, move on.
Yeah…could barely string anything together, jbd.
Another great win, tiring week with such small squad
Nice rest now before the Bircotes, wonder any of injured will be fit
Hamstrings are a bugger once they go can take ages to be good again, he keeps getting muscle tears I’d be looking at his diet. Birtie 2 in two and both goals laid on a plate by the opposition. We really need a better option on the right than either of them moving forward.
Wasn’t the worst and I think playing some no hopers added to the lethargy and they did defend well particularly Phillipe. so we are in the top 6, Brighton and Brentford lose which helps. Newcastle will be tough but beat them Spurs and manure and the lesser teams and who knows where we will finish and you have to feel its possible. Its a good mix of top clubs and dross to finish.
Agree, MK.
The lack of threat from the right really hurts. At least Bert is taking the chances, unlike Bailey. I’d tip both of them to be gone.
JG,
It is a small squad, and like jbd said, they did look tired and off it today. But, three points is three points, and the old cliche about winning when you don’t play well really applies today.
Another win. Another 3 points. Another move up the table. Happy Days. My weekend is made. How does the saying go? Play crap and win and you have a good team?
A very average performance. Some might say poor. But Forest didn’t want to play ball. They decided not to over commit because they were frightened of the possible damage if they did. So instead they competed in midfield, didn’t come out of their compact shape and weren’t scared to put the boot in. Shelvey very fortunate to stay on the pitch until his substitution. Karma nailed him in the end with his mistake gifting us the first goal.
Dougie had an off day. Several players looked jaded but hey, 9 points in one week. This is top stuff. HRH and heir in attendance and no doubt delighted with the outcome. Word of warning though. Play like that next week and the Wai Ayes will beat us.
The first thing their keeper did was pick the ball out of the net. Until then he was leaning against his post arms folded.
But I’m defo not complaining. Unai reckons we can play better. I agree. As others say, small squad, 3 games in 8 days takes its toll. I’ve just cracked open the beers.
Now 6th!! Gerrard’s CV is getting trashed by the game. These are heady days. Some people think the best since MON. I’m thinking the best since the fifty shades of Gray days with Saunders. This is still Deano’s team. Once Unai puts his stamp on it with some astute signings, who knows where we’ll be get to. Europe this year is a real possibility now.
If we do get Europe, we will need 5 or 6 players,it’s ok trusting a small squad but it also rings on burnout
Hopefully emery knows a few youngs
I don’t usually indulge in the fantasy of picking players from other teams but……………….I WANT JARROD BOWEN ON MY RIGHT WING – HE WOULD BE A MOST ASTUTE (BUT BLOODY OBVIOUS) SIGNING. calm down calm down – BUT WE’VE GOT THE MONEY HAVEN’T WE?
And mitoma on the left. From Briton
Brighton
With so many big clubs involved in the relegation battle and in money trouble (Everton and Leicester) there are plenty of players to go for. I have the feeling Unai will be more expansive in his search than that though. That said Barnes from Leicester would be a start. Maddison will go to a established top 6 you’d think But depends who we sell, McGinn for instance. Brighton like to sell but if they have a euro spot they may not. Wet Spam most likely to survive on form so Bowen I think is out of reach as they build next season. Wouldn’t rule out several youngsters coming through either on the wings. And please whatever happens make them two footed, If Watkins has only just learned to dink a finish I’d be making them do an hour a day min on their weak foot, should be anyway but I’ve never seen it talked about.
Unai after 17 games has a win percentage of 57. 89, best Villa manager ever apparently but its early days. From what Mings has said they are asked to do certain things at the weeks start that become apparent for the game by week end. So he is breaking down what’s required and drilling it in individually so that it makes sense for them teamwise as a whole when put into practise. He really is an incredible coach that likely gives those around him clear direction rather than being someone reliant on others to fill in knowledge gaps. On top of that its all based around winning and how to win rather than a set way of playing.
SWP from Southampton will be in demand, he would be a great asset and considering Smiths team is now in 6th you’d have to think he’s a good shout, Smith-Rowe at Arsenal is finding it hard to get games too.
Painful to watch the clear lack of intelligent play on the right compared to the left although I accept Unai does slant the attacking play that way.
Still buzzing from yesterday. ESR from Arsenal? Not for me Mark. I believe we dodged a bullet when missing out on him last time.
The left side intelligence comes from Moreno, a great signing. I’d take a guess that Unai might have an alternative RB hidden somewhere overseas to level up both flanks.
Plug – Dick doesn’t use two attacking fb’s as such, the right side see’s a winger or one of the two up top going wide. Arsenal have Martinelli and trossard so whatever has happened to ESR he will be getable and still young. As we have dived into a hail of bullets on the winger front recently it holds no fear for me.
Besides we already have a RB in Kessler
Another insane result. Feared that one. No Kamara and 3rd game in a week with a small squad and no rotating.
This is where Emery ball sees us through….the system and organisation sees us through. Remarkable to see. We are proper punching. If we can hang on to top 8 it will be outstanding
No worries at all who unai brings in.
More under the radar signings like Moreno. What a solid signing he’s turning out to be. 14 mill.
Want to see cash Kamara and Phil back asap.
Shame Phil out as he was looking sharp.
Could cook under unai but likely to be gone in summer
Defo the best since MON (though the 10-game streak is the most Villa-related fun I’ve had in years, playoffs, final).
You can tell I’m feeling good: new page up.
