A wolf in very poorly fitted sheep’s clothing. That’s the Big Picture, or at least it was, and it was truly shameless and brazen. (Yes, I’m a bit late to this, but I’d be remiss not saying anything.)
As sure as the progression of the seasons, players come into the club all wide-eyed and bushy tailed ready to soak up as much as they can at the beginning of their career. At the greybeard end, players collect their final weekly pay and shove off.
All the superlatives have been used for a historic night. The absolute last thing anyone expected, most certainly the defending champions. And me. But now Villans have two weeks to enjoy a surreal 7-2 pasting of Liverpool to go second with a game in hand.
With only two matches played against struggling clubs, it’s hard to know whether or how much Villa are improved, but we’ve not yet seen the full impact of the summer’s business so far. However, Barkley is coming straight in, and Traoré is on the bench.
There’s a ticking time bomb in the world of football. Well, actually two ticking time bombs…ah hell, they’re not ticking anymore. They’ve gone off and we don’t even realize it yet.
