Tonight is all about putting Fulham out of the picture and keeping pressure on Liverpool and Brighton. Every game is an opportunity to get a step closer without overwhelming the side with what would be an almost miraculous run. We have our six-pointers ahead of us, and that’s about all you can hope for. To win out we obviously have to keep them from doing the same.
When it comes to numbers, Villa could win out and still be overcome in the improbable race for Europe. Villa sit sixth, but Brighton obviously have two games in hand and are just one point behind. So, all Villa can do is go out one match at a time and claw for every point. And it’s a very interesting run-in.
Villans are buzzing as the club climb into 6th for at least a moment. We may not be throwing around the M-word just yet, but it’s getting hard to keep it in the bottle. What a far cry from Gerrard’s disastrous and thankfully brief tenure at the helm.
Of all the teams in the relegation scrap, Forest are the one I want to stay up. Have no idea what’s about to happen, but if Villa were to lose, I wouldn’t begrudge Forest those crucial three points. Which is why I’m not down the pub watching with my Forest mate.
