With the Euros well and truly picked over, and a bit of uncertainty mounting about Villa’s next moves, it seems about right to finally get into the usual and incessant transfer speculations doing the rounds. We’re seeing all sorts of things: Alvarez still bubbling around, Sarr being very expensive, and Bournemouth’s left-sided Dutchman, Arnaut Danjuma. Dwight McNeil has resurfaced, as has Will Hughes. Now it’s Leon Bailey and Todd Cantwell.
So we wake up and it’s all Grealish to City like it’s a done deal. And apparently United want Jack, John McGinn, or both.
It winds me up a bit, like it probably does most every other Villan. Click-bait? Yes. But I’m sort of duty-bound to click and give them traffic so I can see what’s being endlessly recycled. Anyway, I’ve got to say something, even if I’m repeating myself.
Transfer talk never completely goes away, but of course it’s now ramping up to the annual summer frenzy. For Villa, we’re hearing a couple different things about needs, spend, and a ‘precise’ plan. So let’s dive in a little, and also try to get in Compass’s head(s).
Here we are, the season’s final match, and what a ride it’s been. It’s only fitting that the entirely surreal 2020-21 edition of the Premier League comes to an end at Villa Park with supporters in the stands for the first time in over a year.
As always, getting something up just before kick-off. Not that there’s much to say. Villa beat Everton 2-1 a couple weeks ago, and the Toffees were poor. Which seems to be their vibe at home. At Villa Park? We’ll see soon enough.
