At Villa Park, there’s been very little to cheer about in recent months as the club have suffered with injuries, poor player form and go into Boxing Day with three losses in a row.

However, at Aston Villa Life, we’ve been proud of what we have achieved. Not only are we still hosting tens of thousands of readers, we’ve helped people connect with each other and feel part of the community I hoped we could build when I started the project back at the end of March 2011.

It’s also been great to see friendships form, and for the first AVL meet up to happen in Birmingham this month – something I hope will continue to happen next year when we are all free, and hopefully I will be able to meet up with you all in the future.

It seems almost unbelievable that AVL will be three years old in three months, but we’re close to getting there – something that is testament to our loyal readers and commenters, each one providing valuable input into how the site has grown to encompass people from all over the world.

So, as we likely gather with our families on Christmas Day, let me take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you, whether you are a reader or commenter – we couldn’t have got this far without you – especially those of you who have been here since day one.

Let me also take particular time to thank those of you who have written articles for the site over the course of our existence, especially our regular contributors Kristina Montesano, John Clark, Liam Scahill, Jason Chalifour, and our most recent addition John Lerwill – you’ve been key to our ability to provide quality daily content to the fans of our beloved club.

To finish, let me wish you all a Merry Christmas, and here’s to three points tomorrow – normal service will resume tomorrow with the preview of the home game against Crystal Palace.

Here’s to the future, and thanks again for your continued support of our community.

All the best to you and your families today – have a great day.

Matt
