In partnership with local music magazine Counteract run by friend Richard Franks, we at Aston Villa Life wanted to make our readers aware of a festival that will mark the launch of our new kit in June.

Below is a press release from Richard’s magazine Counteract detailing the event for those of you who are interested in attending this event. As the article states, there is no charge for the event so why not make it down to Villa Park for a Fathers Day full of fun!

Press Release – Villa Park Festival

Aston Villa and Counteract Magazine have announced details of a free festival to mark the launch of their 2012/13 home and away kit.

Held at Villa Park across the Father’s Day Weekend of June 16 & 17, the two-day event showcasing the best in local music will give ardent fans the chance to check out the new range of shirts and training wear, as well as the opportunity to buy the new Macron home kit immediately. The away shirt will be available to purchase from July 14.

The fun-filled-festival will also be accompanied by family activities including mini stadium tours, indoor football coaching, inflatable volleyball, a human demolition wrecking ball, assault courses, Velcro wall and various other activities to give the festival a real family feel.

There will also be fashion cat walks of both the home and away kits and the entire training range at various points throughout the two days.

Headlining the Saturday will be Wolverhampton-based band The Lines who have recently announced their biggest headline show to date on December 15 at the Civic Hall, after comfortably selling out several shows at the Wulfrun Hall.

Also joining them on Saturday will be other local rising stars Swim Deep, Dakota Beats, The Bluebeat Arkestra & The Culture.

Sunday, Father’s Day, will see local favourites Taking Hayley headline the event.

The four-piece have just supported McFly and are set to wow a strong Villa Park crowd with their infectious pop hooks and catchy tunes.

Soldier, Paradise Forum, VOWS, Joyous, Deceptions Pocket and Stubblemelt will also be gracing the stage on Sunday June 17.

Handpicking the local talent is Birmingham-based online music magazine Counteract, who have also recently been selecting local music to be played at Villa Park on matchdays.

Counteract Magazine editor Richard Franks said: “We are really pleased to be able to announce the full lineup of bands for the free festival at Villa Park.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the bands involved to really get their names out there, and gives fans something a little bit different from your normal kit launch to look forward to.

“We’re really pleased with the bands we have confirmed for what is set to be a truly unique event in great surroundings! Stay tuned to our site and www.avfc.co.uk for more information.”

Adult shirts will be priced at £45, with junior shirts at £38 and goalkeeping shirts priced at £50 and £42 respectively.
