QPR twice came from behind last weekend against Liverpool, only to be denied a point by a late own goal, leaving the Rs stranded at the foot of table. The West Londoner’s will need to tighten up at the back as they have the worst defensive record in the league, conceding an average of 2.25 goals per game.

The shining beacon of light last weekend for QPR was second half substitute Eduardo Vargas, as the Chilean striker showcased his talent to the Loftus Road faithful. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index tells us more about the Chilean that him scoring twice on the weekend, revealing that he has only hit the back of the net with 50% of his shots taken. After his fantastic display last weekend he is definitely pushing for a starting place, and he is 12/5 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

Whilst Vargas is hoping for a repeat performance from last weekend, Steven Caulker will be hoping that he doesn’t find the back of his own net this weekend. The English centre back is the only player to have played every minute of football for The Hoops, and the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index reveals why. He actually proves more of a threat up top than most defenders and has had the second most shots on goal in the QPR squad with 11, resulting in him grabbing a goal. Defensively, the 22 year old has racked up 59 clearances, 21 interceptions and four blocks, and will need to add to his statistics to keep the Aston Villa front line quiet.

In the middle of the park, Leroy Fer could not have come closer to breaking the deadlock last week and opening his account for the season, twice striking the crossbar. The EA SPORTS Player Performance Index reveals that he whilst he has only hit the target once from five efforts, 60% of his efforts have hit the woodwork this season. He has completed a squad best 14 dribbles and also created two of the R’s six goals this season. He could be the key to unlocking the Villa defence.

Aston Villa come into the game on the back of playing last year’s top five in the Premier League. Since beating Liverpool, the Villans have suffered four defeats on the bounce and will be looking to get back to winning ways in White City come Monday.

A big part of Villa’s failure to secure points has been that they have only managed four goals so far this campaign. Two of these goals have been scored by Gabriel Agbonlahor and the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index tells us how important he is to Villa. Having hit a top speed of 34.34km/h this season, the English striker will be hoping to execute high speed counter attacks that reaped rewards for Liverpool against QPR last weekend.

Aston Villa’s other two Premier League goals this campaign have been delivered by Agbonlahor’s strike partner Andreas Weimann. The Austrian international has started the season in impressive fashion according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index, scoring with every other shot that he has taken at goal. He has also showed how he is willing to work for the team by grabbing an assist, winning 75% of his tackles and completing a squad best 443 sprints. He is 31/10 to score anytime with 888sport.com.

At the back, Villa will be looking to sure things up, having conceded 11 of their 12 goals in their last four games of the campaign. The man who has most impressed at the back is Alan Hutton who, according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index, is the seventh fastest player in the Premier League this year having hit a top speed of 35.54km/h. The Scottish full back has won a fantastic 93.75% of his tackles, made 27 clearances and made 15 interceptions and will vital in Aston Villa’s effort to keep their fourth clean sheet of the season.

  1. Morning all . I hope the rumours of QPR having a diminished squad are true as we are now officially the lowest scoring team in the Premier League . That’s not just about money it is about our attitude and tactics. With PL saying Benteke isn’t fully fit and isn’t likely to be until December , let’s hope he doesn’t get injured again by this decision “to put him first on the team sheet”. The team owe the supporters a gutsy and committed performance after Everton and who better to play against but relegation strugglers QPR. I am looking forward to an AV win tonight .

  2. Thanks Matt, this is where the team players need to step up their personal and collective games; if they cannot win here it leaves the gloom hanging around longer.
The momentum is with QPR after their last performance and they will come into this game brimming with confidence. I see the first goal as vitally important in this game as it will determine the way the game pans out; if Villa score first the seeds of self doubt will start to diminish the expectations of QPR and, more importantly, their supporters.
Let’s hope the tide turns tonight.

  3. We play the bottom club and I guarantee Lambert will set up for a draw he knows nothing else, I see a fifth straight defeat because I have no idea where our goals will come from to secure a win, the only thing that we have to lift our gloom is seeing that lot down the road lose 0-8 at home, well when you are as shit has we are you have to take anything thrown your way that may make you feel slightly better about being in yet another relegation battle.

    AVFC RIP.

  4. How sad that as we head into a league game against the bottom club, almost universally we expect our own side to struggle. It’s the first of two live TV games we’re involved in this week, the second being spurs at home Sunday . Even this early in the season it is a must win IMO, as we won’t beat spurs, saints or west Ham meaning it could be a horrific 8 games losing streak( very likely possibility). Our problems are we still leak at the back but offer nothing going forwards. Our midfield is very lightweight and a is genuine creativity, despite packing it with 5 players we still seem to easily over run. Lamberts horrendous tactics shackle the players and force players to be less expressive and are all about being defensive, which is laughable the way we are getting tonked on a weekly basis.
We are now 15th and sliding fast, we need the points and to stop the rot although even if we do win, I can’t see us getting anything out if the next three fixtures, which is why tonight is so important , unfortunately I can’t see anything other than a home win.

  5. Well it’s already a game we have to win if want to stay up, bus as we all know, we are helping hand villa. Even if they illnesses, they will beat us.

His time in charge of us has been disgraceful and nothing more will prove that than tonight. You watch bottom of the league beat us, you watch Lamberk park the bus and have no intent to win.

The pressure must be building on him cus I can’t see where our next win is coming from. Hopefully the away fans rip him apart and VP won’t be a nice place if Spurs beatniks as well

  6. The twat has said he wants us to play with more freedom but that means something to him. 1 or 2 shots a game is attacking in his eyes

Tonight, we should dominate the ball and control the game. Grealish and Cole have to start

  7. Frem,

Lambert has never been under pressure, he has been doing his job under strict orders from Lerner and Faulkner and now Fox, he has been given a new contract and Lerner would look a fool if he sacked him less than half a dozen games into a new deal and historically Lerner has no track record of getting rid of his managers during the season.

    AVFC RIP.

  8. Swv- the worlds most undeserved contract in the history of man kind should have no baring on there here and now. The here and now is a shambles, just like the last two seasons. If we are rock bottom by Xmas which I think we will be, then even Randy will have to pull the trigger

Fox should have something about him and if he knows his football, he will already be in Randys ear, and if tonight hoes bad, he should be telling Randy yo pull the trigger

    RIP indeed though

  9. He won’t be sacked, for all the reasons SWV has pointed out, RL has no idea or clue about football, it’s all about the $$$$$$$ for him and the £70m TV money every year. Our only hope is that PL actually finds a shred of decency and self respect, holds his hands up and resigns or throws himself off the BT tower in a love protest and how his sugar daddy has let him down.

  10. I will not be watching tonight has I cannot put myself through the agony of seeing my club play a brand of football that I fail to recognize as something I should feel proud of, I will instead be watching The Walking Dead although comically I can see a great similarity between the two.

    AVFC RIP.

  11. Lamberk is in the verge of breaking yet another club record

We have never gone 5 games without scoring. With our run of games coming up, it could go on and on

  12. Swv- you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between watching us or the walking dead. Just wish Rick would put a bullet through Lamberks head

He’s said that he wants us to play with more freedom so we bette actually attack and pass tonight

  13. QPR mate at work they will be going all out tonight as they have man city and Chelsea next.

I have a bad feeling about tonight…..rather it wont on telly. dont think i want to watch it!

  14. Andrew- of course they will be going for it. They will probably be all over us tonight. They will know if they can’t beat helping hand villa then they don’t stand a chance of staying up

We have not scored a single goal in our last 5 visits to a London based team. John, is that another club record ?

  15. Well in the light that QPR should have a depleted team, and that I do believe Villa will be a mite cleverer than we expect (against this level of opposition) I’m going to go for a 2-0 Villa win.

But it could be a 2-1 win. And it could be a 2-2 draw!!

  16. As i have said on numerous occasions.. we don’t have the personnel to attack teams.. every manager has his style of play and buys players accordingly..

You look at Mourhnio and his team always has a couple of solid DM’s.. look at Wengers and it is small skilful players.. both are set in there ways..

So is the pillock in charge of us.. Westy Delph Sylla K EA Sanchez Cleverly.. theres a pattern there.. all roughly do the same thing just differ in terms of ability.. same goes for Benteke.. Bowery.. Holt.. Kozak..

PL has a certain style and frankly is is shite.. no goals from mid etc.. 4-3-3.. no width..

So going for it is hard under this manager.. like i said.. a few wins and draw every 10 games will scrape us thru..

If sh!t does his the fan… Lerners Plan B….. Roy Keane..!!

  17. This is a very big game for Aston Villa.

It should be a big game for Lambert, but isn’t because of the decision to award Lambert another four years based on four games. The latest in a never ending series of preposterous decisions from Lerner, who couldn’t have sabotaged the club any more effectively if he’d done it all on purpose or revealed he was really Jasper Carrott.

Any feel good factor at the start of the season has long evaporated and not just with a brutal series of results. In my case, the light at the end of the tunnel was based primarily in getting rid of Lerner and then I presumed after a decent interval under new owners – hopefully only a couple of hours – seeing the back of Lambert.

QPR played pretty well last weekend but hopefully they’ve been kicked in the nuts by that travesty of a result rather than taken positives from the performance. On that showing Zamora will be a handful and Vargas is very lively – too lively I fear for our slow moving and slow thinking centre backs.

This is the sort of game we ought to be winning but if we lose then we’re in yet another relegation scrap. QPR and Villa are run on very different principles, but both run by fools.

  18. Thought i’d comment being as i’m going for a gargle tonight and its probably on at the pub. What chance do we have when our bench looks like its got two fuckin vagrants from the pigeon park cadging 50p for a cup of char, how do they expect respect when then look like the Clampets out of the Beverley Hillbillies ?
NO standards at VP anymore, Lerners got Fox in to maximise his $$$, the dummy knows less about footy than Chubby, renewed interest ? not a scooby, he’s taking the P big time.

So Gary Rowett has ‘Great affection’ for the vermin does he ? strange that, he’s actually a Villa fan, go get ’em Gazza, finish the tw@s off.

  19. We are the second worst team at crossing then

We can’t defend, attack, pass, Retain possession, stay solid, look fluid or cross

“Paul Lamberks claret and bike and army”

    Clap clap clap

Huge Game tonight. Lamberk will be over the moon with a 0-0

  20. Runtings- no chance will we get him.

Lionheart- As you say, he needs to change system tonight cus the 433 is crap. Cole and Grealish should start, we know they won’t though

    Welcome back Steamer

  21. One god awful starting 11. Grealish doesn’t even make the squad again. Lowton and Clark starting. The two donkeys out wide

    Zero creativity as usual

  22. Hardly can wait for the entertainment tonight in the metropolitan of London!
Is the any possibility for bringing some light back here in the northern darkness?
Can i see the light above the head of lambert shining brightly? Or do i have to go to the doctor tomorrow after one more sleepless night with AV nightmeres…..

  23. It’s sad what we have become

Wiemann and Cleverley out wide is a disgrace to football

    Sanchez looks good

But his 3rd season in charge and we still can’t defend Sunday league tactics

  24. Agree Ronnie…Cleverley and Westwood should be doing better, but Sanchez looking good….unfortunately Dunne doing a great job. Guzan to slow to catch a cold…

    Good to see you Steamer…

  25. lowton vlar sissko cleverly westwood what the connection lambert thinks they can play football what a crap way to line up no width lowton sisko cant cross clevely what point wiemen shoot om sight if he had ducked lowton simple chance benteke back to soon again clark is not div1 standard

  26. Oh God,
I’ve been defending Lambert because he’s been given this ludicrous 4 yr extension and have been deluding myself with justifications based on stability at the club but reality has sunk in… he is a crap manager.

He never changes the tactics like EVERYONE on this blog knows he should.

    Where is the forkin creativity.

The commentators on Canal+ are talking about him and his team objectively: bland, gray, plain.
They’re saying too many similar style players and no flair… NZogbia, Cole and they probably haven’t even heard of Grealish.

4 more yrs of this tripe, pure bloody hell is what it is.

I’m moving to the darkside. This is just not good enough.

An American owner and an America business manager who know NOTHING about football resigning Lambert and Hutton after 4 games.

    Distressing, disturbing, depressing!

Will watching the Villa ever be fun again?
If we’re relying on Benteke then we’re in trouble, he’s far, far from up to speed.

    Oh dear.

At least I’ve got a good sopcast feed for the 2nd half knock on wood and it looks like Lambert the idiot will be forced into a half time sub due to Weimann’s injury so perhaps he, we’ll get lucky and a difference maker some with some creativity will come on and change our fortunes.

    One can only hope.

    🙁

  27. Is it just me or is Cleverley rubbish?!?!?! We want to sign this clown permanently, you’re kidding me right? Once upon a time he was good enough to play for England, not seeing it myself!??!?!

  28. Would someone pls tell Lambert that in the modern game you’re allowed to make subs, it’s in the rule book, you don’t have to play the same 10 players for the entire match or every match for that matter.

Another manner might change up the team completely; cole, nzogbia, grealish, bent, bacuna would all start next match but no no no we’ll see the same drivel next game without a shadow of a doubt… aaaah!

  29. Is there no end to this.?Unlike some,I don`t care very much about the quality football-rather the lack of-it`s the results. We just keep losing,we can`t even nick a draw at home.I was reasonably happy this season, thinking that as each day passed another day was run down from Lambert`s contract, and a sale could occur in 2015……..only to receive the bombshell that he was given a further 4 years. This is beyond my comprehension, and it is heartbreaking to see the damage being done.We go a goal down,we lose .simple as that.A soft touch, mentally weak, indecisive, negative in outlook and play.and that`s just the management. The players must take some responsibility too, though.I don`t blame Lmabert entirely, who wouldn`t sign a new, improved deal? The clown who gave it to him should be assasinated.I`m all for stability, but in four years.we could be out of existence.By the way Lambert,it is within the rules of the game to use subs
We continue to aproach each game, home or away,as if we are Altringham playing at Chelsea.Negative outlook, don`t get beat,11 men behind the ball, and do a lap of homour if we lose 0-3.No pride or self respect, tactics, cohesion.direction, purpose or co ordination. As I wrote 2 years ago,Ok we are crap, but can`t we be well organised crap, that can pinch a draw now and again?A new all time low,to be continued at the weekend.

  30. It is sad Frem,to witness what we have become,a soft touch, providing the points for teams that need them, humiliating, soul destroying, depressing .We are in for a very bleak winter,a punch bag,for teams at the top ,bottom,or middle of the league.Pathetic,insignificant.I am numb now,not angry, this just goes on and on month after month, year after year.Randy sell up,or just shut the club down. What`s the blimmming point of carrying on like this?

  31. Gabby in the number 10 role, Cleverley out wide.

    Yet again awful team selection.

It’s no surprise mow we play anymore. Soft touches and clueless

Watford and Leeds have had 5 managers since we last scored

  32. Benteke too rusty to play…..should be getting his sharpness with the reserves….and scoring goals for confidence..Substitutions were probably right, but made ten minutes too late…Dunne showed lambert what a mistake he made in giving him away..

Villa 65% of the possession…6 shots on target….more than we have managed all season…..Does Cleverley have a sight problem?… seems only to recognise Villa players if they stood next to him…otherwise he passes to the other side…

May be now we will start to play as we are now where we belong…perhaps Roy will take charge…

  33. Paul W

Lambert is going nowhere, regardless of result s In Lerners`s eyes loyalty, stability and liking an individual trumps results and performance I conclude this from the awarding to Lambert of a year deal Incoherent and muddled in my humble

  34. If that is correct Frem-and I have no reason to doubt you-then he should be out of the club,in the morning.
Empty your locker son,and take Lambert and RK with you.If he said that then he is lower than whale shit.Mind you who cares how rthe fans feel?

  35. Dressing room door shut and no-one coming out……Sky want to speak to Lambert…..but not available…yet…

Could this week be his last..?????…..Will keane take his place..???

  36. From 1-11 all cunts including the managerial team, owner and board.
I’m beginning to hate Villa more than our neighbours do, It’s what we have become, this is not the club I fell in love with. RIP Aston Villa FC.

  37. Lamberk shows no emotion what so ever in his interview after. He couldn’t give a feck about this club or the fans who sold out there allocation yet again

    Spurs will hammer us

  38. Lambert out of the dressing room…and an honest view of the game. A man in a controlled, but emotional state. He knows it cannot continue…giving poor goals…and not creating…..Sunday would appear to be a real crunch game for Lambert and the team.

I feel from what came across, that either Villa get a result….or he will probably be walking…

and tonight the display was not all his fault. The team on the pitch should and could have done better, especially Vlaar, and probably Westwood, Cleverley and Sanchez, who generally played well, but had a few awful slips….

We need a creator….and a finisher….Bent and Cole to start on Sunday..???

  39. Unfair Frem.

He was controlled, but the emotion was definitely there, in fact the guy was close to tears, if anything…

He knows he has let the fans down..and is getting close to the end..

give him some credit this time…He was also honest…..

I know you are disappointed Frem, as we all are, but you cannot blame him for the display tonight..Only for failing to substitute sooner..

  40. Lambert looked messed up to me….had he been crying!!

Lambert thinks okore aint no way ready but plays tekkers who is so far off the pace.

4 year contract does not matter, will have to be sacked if poison atmosphere at vp arrives.

  41. I actually liked the look of sanchez.

Westwood and cleverly are just bull shit. They look busy but dont do anything. They literally have no effect on the game.

Big loss delph who can beat a man and turn the other team over.

Weimann and gabby should be shot

  42. That was hard to watch…
I haven’t spoken on here for a good while, and apologise if that makes me one of those fickle, negative, moaner types.
    What to say… ?
It’s hard to actually come to terms with it!
    Best not say more…??????

  43. l said on TVB that this clown wasnt for us and even said it on here when l joined , the only Plan B he has is the fucking CD in his car , l said in the pub 2-0 and that arse Austin will net wish l knew how to bet ,
feel fucking sick watching this happen to the club l love , even getting kicked to fuck , nicked and fined and spent £1000s on, not anymore till these twats are gone ,

B62 if your going down to the next game let me know , so l can leave you something in the villa shop for the likkle un , will leave it in the B62villa name mate , errr do you want something villa ? hope alls well with you and yours and the new arrival .

night Jenny , hope you enjoyed your cider and lime xxx

  44. “Sanchez generally played well…”. Sorry, he was at fault for the second goal, gave the ball away to Hoylett for the shot off the post. The guy cannot control the ball, continually concedes possession and is slow…and is well versed in the Lambert school of crab passing.

Is he the worst, no….but why was he signed when he adds nothing?

  45. Ciaran clark…..words fail me. When he leaves villa he will be lucky to get a move to league 1.

Lambert moans about creativity and attack

You are the manager mate! Stop playing fullbacks as our only supply to attack ffs

Grealish must be awful if he cant get in.

  46. PP- he looked liked he had just been abused by the players. He probably was. I didn’t see to much emotion really. You know he really wanted to say” I thought we were excellent ” I hope his time is up

He played Gabby is a creative role. Lol. He played a CM on the left and a striker on the right. Grealish wasn’t even in the squad

We will go back to the dire 451 on Sunday that’s for sure unless Keane is manager by then

  47. paul pears
he set up the team with no width no playmaker 3 strikers wiemen is not a wide man never gabby not a footballer of any kind clarke playiny now 6 seasons getting worse westwood runs round like a duracell rabbit going no where okore not fit yet brings benteke straight in s anchez should have got 20/30 mins last 5 matches but no cole is like our club a joke bent bring him on when 2 down and dont put ball in box zog looked good against city what happens grealish signs new contract drop him when weare crying out for something sorry paul you can not defend lambert or nobody else can

  48. Frem

Of course vlaars off. I had hope delph would stay, but am imagining him feet up watching that tonight!!

Lambert is doing the same thing again and again and again.

Look at the stats…..how many assists are gab and weeman getting us…….bugger all but he plays them because they are good runners tracking back…….and he moans we dont create enough?!

  49. james,

not really defendiung him, because there is not a lot to defend, but the players tonight, are all experienced players, and deserve to take their share of the blame…..

Just been watching Dwight Yorke score more goals for Villa than the have scored as a team int their time under Lambert….

How exciting were we to watch in those days……

Let’s hope someone allows Benteke and Bent to do the same before long with some decent playmakers….

  50. I`ve said this before and I`ll say it again.

Lambert out,John Gregory in until we can get a manager. Please no more Jocks or Irish managers, please. No disrespect intended to either nation, but I`ve had enough of both.If Lerner digs his heels in then we are certs for the drop.

  51. Did anyone watch the walking dead fucking brilliant better than watching that pile of shit that Lamberk believes is a football team we are so bad i truly believe that this our year for the drop.

  52. The goals tonight were not Clarke’s fault. It was Vlaar who allowed Zamora to chest the ball down and give to Austin, and it was Vlaar that allowed Austin to get the wrong side of him for the second.

Clarke’s main failing was to put the ball in the net on the two chances he had.

  53. Andrew- exactly. He keeps doing the same over and over again and it goals over and over again. Gabby and Wiemann are hardly football players

Swv- just watched 90 mins of of the walking dead

PP- true on Vlaar. Maybe Clark can be used as a striker:)

A lot of talk on twitter about Pullis. I’d take him hands down to get us out of this mess

  54. sundays team
    given cant be any worse
hutton it says it all dumped for 2 years and still better than lamberts crap
sendross never did i think we would sink this low
    vlar/okore anybody but clark
sissko no other choice 4 lb signed by lambert
sanchez bar 5 min stonight thought he wasnt bad
richardson sick off watching westwood going back with every pass
    grealish let him fly
    cleverly/zog toss a coin
bent how many goals have gabby wiemen scored
    benteke

  55. Clark is typical of most of our recent academy productsHe will have a long career in the game as a pro,but not good enough for the EPL.I was going to say not good enough for AVFC,but he might be useful in the division below.Mind you Davis is holding his own in a good S`ton team.

  56. Does anyone trust Lerner to make a good strong appointment with his track record.Houllier, too ill to manage,McShambles, and now Lambert, only a few weeks into a 4 year comfort zone.I`ll see you all in another life or when things change at VP all the best.

  57. Theres no excuse in lamberts 3rd year. I dont give a shit how we play but if results arent there he has to go. Another season being bottom 5 cant be accepted. It aint going to end well.

Nzog, grealish, cole, bent have to be played. Im soooo bored of seeing gabby mug a living doing fa. Villa ledgend…..no bugger else wants him. He must be pissing himself we keep him at villa

  58. We have to hang our hat on fox. He is the only hope.

I am prepared to believe it was learner giving pl a 4 year deal. Randy knows nothing about the game so all we have is fox. Do the right thing fox

  59. Just watching Cole now scoring his 187 goals……170 from inside the box…..top teams..always have goal poachers…….Jimmy Greaves at Spurs…..George best at Utd….Yorke and Cole at Utd….

we get one and bench him….where is the sense???

  60. Two shownership goals. Vlaar easily held off for the first but then he made the attempt to block Austin’s shot with Clark nowhere. Sanchez with a horror pass but there was still a lot to do to score. And we let it happen.

I read recently Westwood being linked with an England call up. Absolutely ludicrous, even Alex Salmond wouldn’t want that to happen. He is a coward on the ball which he treats as a hot potato and continually plays people into trouble rather than take responsibility. I’d drop him now, in fact I’d have dropped him years ago.

Jack Grealish must have been buzzing when he signed that contract. So how do our old school management decide to play it? Drop him from the squad completely, get his feet on the ground, knock him down. Pathetic.

Okore was bigged up far too much on what he’s done but he needs to play now. I don’t know if he’ll be good enough long term but I already know the rest of them aren’t.

I won’t even talk about Lambert. But Lerner is even more at fault for the position we’re in. Every single mistake at Villa during his ownership comes back on him.

  61. Two shocking goals I meant.

The fifth relegation struggle in a row. Who can say that this team under this management under this owner don’t deserve to be relegated?

  62. Deary me Mr Lambert

gabby our creative force — Cleaverly left wing — Weiman right wing — Lowton totally out of sorts — lambo likes to set up his teams to fail

Nzogbia not even a sniff for our best midfielder — Glealish watch telly —

Our club is such a joke – i am work getting sympathy from Palace fans — jeepers

What chance do the lads have being set up like this– – how is this counter attact relivant to the modern game

As for change of manager Randy has got progressivly worse at chosing them meanwhile teams like southampton’s last 3 managers have shown they are a cut above and any of them would do wonders at villa

Randy sort it out your killing our club

  63. We will get relegated, unless Lambert is sacked and big changes are made. RK can go with him , he’s made it clear he is on board with this apathy and shite being served up, and is now spending more time on the road touting his book than in the training ground.
I fear for the very future of this club, as if we go down we will end up like blues/Pompey/Leeds etc empty stadium, no hope no future . In this modern era it’s not as easy to bounce back with ££ or a great business plan and footballing ethos( ie Swansea). I am filled nothing but hate, pure rage at Lerner( and his board), Lambert, Keane and the majority of our lazy, selfish , useless wankers masquerading as players. The fans are enabling the club to be destroyed, we need action, even if it’s a fucking riot. I want to be able to take my son to VP, but it looks like it’s gonna be in the conference.

Cheers mate, that’s a really kind thought, the boy has loads of presents including 2 Villa kits, he isn’t going to go without, so if you want to buy a present, could I ask for a small donation to acorns or drop a gift in the local Children’s home or hospital, where others aren’t quite so fortunate at Christmas, again thanks for the thought and offer, ps Marks £20 doesn’t count 😉

  64. B62

    All true mate

Lerner and Lambert are a cancer eating away at the club.Regardless,it`s not about liking, hating or defending Lamber or an ugly style of play……it`s the fuggin results. We are incapable of even drawing.Agree about action, rather than complaining. Will sign off now for another long break from AVL,well, until something changes. Can`tstand the sight of the wage thieves called footballers who pull on our shirt.

  65. Strange thing is, I kinda liked the idea of how we set up in the 4411/442. We should do that more often and keep doing it. What was wrong was what Runtings says

Lamberk still thinks Wiemann, gabby can create. Cleverley is no left winger. Grealish would have been so much better

For the first time since 2007 I might actually miss a home game. I’m gunna offer my ticket to my twin who wants to go again. She went to Hull game where we won 2-1 this season and she loved it. I really don’t want to go this weekend.

Some chap on face book sums it

” I’ve been a villa fan all my life and this is the worst Villa era in our history ”

Its sad. Live in hope that Tom fox has something about him

  66. Frem

I do agree there were moments yesterday and Villa actually had a lot of possession, and it is unfortunate we were without baker and Sendeross. Vlaar did not command the back four. He needs to shape up to his position, and a better keeper would have stopped the first goal. Guzan was far too slow reacting. The defence is a problem again without Sendeross.

I am not sure why Grealish has not been in the squad, there must be a reason….it seems strange..after he was a sub for most of the earlier matches..

Several fan sites coming through on Facebook calling for Lambert to go now. Villa site very quiet about him.

  67. PP- We will go back to 451 again on Sunday though and have everyone behind the ball.

Guzan has been dire for over a year now. Given needs to come in. VLaar needs to start playing like a captain.

It is disgraceful what is happening to us and it’s only getting worse. Already 10th place looks like we have no chance with teams like Saints and West Ham in a different class to us. Its all about survival yet again but the way we are going, we are going down

Spurs, saints and West Ham our next 3. I can only see 3 more defeats

  68. I woudnt blame concrete Ron for the goal as carra pointed out on sky – because there strikers are so physical and good in the air we had a midfielder standing in front of each striker with a defender behind and won the balls —- when they got there goal our midfielder was out of position when the long ball came in leaving a gap which they exploted.

Dunne was superb last night — Guzan really should have saved the first goal – he must have only moved two inch during his dive for the ball

All that said we are just a poor side right now — QPR were also shoking -so much so that we dominated possesion for the first time in years —

  69. lerner has given this clown almost 50 million he has signed 4lb each getting worse 3ch yet dunne was head and shoulders better than any of them sets up side with no width plays 433 yet any team plays like plays with wide men not strikers got to the stage where if he still here on sunday i hope spurs do a southampton and score a heap that lerner has no choice

  70. B62
will do mate ,will give it to Acorns ,
Jenny said something about Liam coming over around the 10th Dec , maybe we can sort a meet up for a drink with him, we can wet your lads head and drown our sorrows in one go , nah fuck it , we’ll just wet the head , till this twats gone not worth commenting on,

Prox if your reading this , when was it you was dropping over ,stuff the game , come and have a pint with us ,

    Brasil
hiya mate , get on the beach ,

Runtins , feel for ya mate ,

sundays game !! couldnt give a round of fucks about it ,

  71. Those who live by the sword – die by the sword. Paul Lambert chose to storm into Aston Villa and destroy and dismantle the best bits of the team he inherited. Instead of protecting our assets he cast them aside and devalued them. This arrogance is coming to haunt him and may well be his downfall. On our worst run in history – with us being the lowest goal scorers in the league he continues to play Gabby and WEimann – who are instrumental in our decline. Seeing Darren Bent sitting behind him last night – the goal in two games, golden boot striker ( before Lambert ruined him)- was like rubbing salt into the wound. Even the punters can see it. Alan Brazil said this morning “with Darren BEnt who will always get you goals sitting behind Paul LAmbert it is obvious there has been a falling out”.

After Everton LAmbert admitted that only Hutton and Cleverley pulled their weight. So what was Gabbby and Weiman doing starting then. What happened to the “I don’t go by reputation, I put people in the team who have earned their place.” He drops Nzogbia (understandably) but the favourism and stubborness continues.

And so does the delusion continue. “I am not worried about us scoring goals ” was what he said last night. I hope Mr Fox and Mr Lerner were listening – this is the reaction of their manager to a five game none scoring run. Why isn’t he concerned about our goal drought ? Does he not think that the poor supporters who did an eight hour round trip last night – many of whom have to get up for work 5 hours later would like to see just one goal occasionally for their efforts.

We are back to our old Lambert ways now. Go a goal down, heads down, brains out the window and adopt the defeated mentality. Here we go again. It is not easy out there but what was our dynamic duo management team doing – sat down, staring ahead. I didn’t see them speaking to each other and neither did the pundits. They looked like Culverhouse and Lambert did after the fall out.

The stupidity of giving a Manager with the worst form in club history a four year contract based on four results is also coming to haunt Randy Lerner. If only the five winless games were played at the beginning of the season. The supporters would at least have the hope that there could be a change of management. Sadly we don’t even have that.

  72. Jenny – even Dunne proved a point to Lamberk last night. Bent should be getting more game time now that’s for sure. You know my view on Gabby on Wiemann by now

The away fans sold out there allocation. I was going to go and they had 6 ticket left, but the coach travel was sold out. They were also restricted view only and I’ve seen a couple of pics on twitter last night with fans who has the restricted view and you see 90% concrete pillar and 10% of the pitch. To be fair, it was probably more interesting staring at the pillar.

Good point on Lamberk and Keane. I didn’t see them do anything when the camera was on them. Lamberk was just staring into space as usual

10 mins into the spurs game will mark 10 hours without a goal

  73. Maybe a few thousand signatures will make a difference. Birmingham Mail F/B page is filling up with Lambert out comments…

He cannot survive beyond Sunday……if he survives this week.

  74. Well lads and lasses if we were all honest we knew this was coming all the signs have been there for the last four seasons, all the warnings have been ignored by our once great club, Faulkner bailed out because he realised he was way out of his depth and that the good ship Aston Villa was sinking faster than you could say Iceberg, you need to find three worse teams in order to survive and at this moment I can only see Burnley and even they will fancy their chances against us.

Lerner and Lambert are going to take us down I think we all know this will be the case, even if he sacked Lambert could you trust the half wit to replace him with someone more capable, we all thought Fox was going to be a genuine replacement for Faulkner but he then oversees a new four year contract for possibly the worst manager in our history dare I say it worse than McLeish.

And so we thought that Keane was going to put some steel into our side and make us a more difficult side to beat, to bring some passion and to teach our midfield to be more creative, well that turned out to be a myth in fact all the stories of Keanes former miss-management all started to ring true, and where was our assistant last Wednesday night on the run up to a very important game, well he was in Dublin with Roddy Doyle promoting his new book, is Keane just here to take the pounds you bet your sweet arse he is.

We have been gifted with idiots in the most important roles at our club and they have all been found out, these clowns are going to be responsible for ending our tenure in the premier league 25 years or so, and what will happen then, Lerner will finally sell and walk away, Lambert and Keane will be sacked and walk into other jobs that pays them tens of thousands, Fox will most probably walk or get the bullet, and who will be left to pick up the pieces of our broken club, us the fans and hopefully new owners who just might care about AVFC and have a clue how to run a football club.

    AVFC RIP.

  75. Hey S75

Cheers how goes it?I`m well just back from the beach,I refuse to let the pathetic performances of a group of young millionaires ruin my day. That said it`s a shame that they are urinating on the shirt and the memory of the former greats who have worn our colours with distinction.I cling to the hope that we are sold,if not it`ll be away days to some of those outposts we went to in Div 3,great days ,I`m glad I experienced `em.Be Lucky.

  76. Great piece SWV

Thats what makes me angry….Learner and Lambert will be ok when gone…..millionaires, and they wont give villa a 2nd thought when gone. The fans should really be protesting and bringing banners now.

    We have been patient enough.

  77. Great to see the Steamers back on here — there are a number of people that have been supporting this blog from day one including the steamers -AVL isnt the same without these people — and of course they knew what we was in for way before i and many others realised what a poor manager PL actually is.

PP nice one and of course i have signed it striaght away

Thank in advance villa for spoiling my weekend yet again

  78. What goes through our managers head, seriously?

In what world do you play so many players out of position ? And not just that, the players out of position aren’t even that good in there normal position and have been let downs for ages now

You have a talented lad not even in the squad when he could have played left mid or in behind Benteke in place of a centre mid who was put out wide, a donkey who played in the number 10 role and a big headed fuck who played right mid. Grealish has more talent than those put together. Even bacuna, Cole, Zoggy would have been better options than Gabby but nope, gabby keeps starting and always will. Wiemann will start most games whilst Grealish is left at home

    It’s all wrong

  79. What he’s said on Grealish has to be the last straw

He’s said he’s not the answer and he’s only 19. He’s said we need to worry about the defence and not attack!!! Haha

19 isn’t young of your good enough.

Andrew- I’d do anything to get Moyes in

  80. Runtings,

If anyone thinks we take any pleasure from running down our club then I can categorically say it hurts to state these things, yes I and many others have had it in for Lambert from virtually the first day because we genuinely felt he was never good enough to do such a big job, the constant from others was to give him a chance which may have seemed fair but at no time has he shown to be up to the task.

Lambert is completely clueless and even his comments today after such a damaging defeat are making him look a bigger fool than we all first thought, he is consistently breaking all the club records most home defeats last season, five losses in a row without a goal scored, in fact here is a good stat – Leeds and Watford have had five managers between them since we last scored, I know its not relevant but I did find it quite funny and after last night god knows I need a laugh.

    AVFC RIP.

  81. Afternoon,
All valid comments on here today echoing feelings of villa fans everywhere.
Something needs to change soon. Although i did say after four games we would likely still have 10 points after ten games it does not make me feel any better.
Too many changes to the squad match to match and not enough changes to the line up after kick off when its clear things need to change on the pitch – tactics? what tactics?
When someone puts in a shift they seem to get dropped, PL is clearly a nose in disguise.
Perhaps we need to turn up with neon arrows on sunday to show where the goal is like these geeerman fans did – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HhA2OQaLt8
Actually pleased i cant make it this sunday and thats a first for me.
    UTV!

  82. Yes it is great to see the Steamers back – and I enjoyed my lime and raspberry cider ST75 xxx

I have copied a post from FB from a friend who is a ST holder and goes to EVERY away game as he also happens to be chairman of a local lions supporter group – yes the ones who the club have kicked in the face – metaphorically speaking. Maybe this should be typed out and sent to the players, Paul Lambert, Randy Lerner and Fox as they seem to have no idea what these supporters sacrifice .

“Dear Mr Lambert, I got up at 5am Monday morning having had to go to work and then finish early so I could go and watch my football team. It is now 22 hrs later and I’ve enjoyed the day apart from the 90 minutes of Bollox I witnessed from a totally disorganised pile of over paid over rated tossers! Do the right thing and resign because I know I personally could manage that shower of shite more than you could !! Rant over its 3am!! Just the 22 hr shift for me, and back in later !!!!”

it is no good relying on Fox to take us anyway – he has over seen the most ludicrous contract extension in our history. For that he has to take responsiblity. Equally, my faith in Keane has gone. He is more interested in his spats with Morinho, Fergie et al and the sale of his book. Look at his body language – totally disinterested – it has the overtones of one who wants to distance himself away from AV rather than be a part of it. When did Doyle write this book . They must have had a date to bring it out – this is an even bigger distraction than his Ireland duties. Wouldn’t surprise me if he is gone before Saturday as he won’t want to tarnish his CV with the circus that is Aston VIlla.

  83. I agree Andrew. Moyes has been in the crowd at lots of games recently advertising his availability and if he’d be interested in coming Lerner would have to an idiot not to get him. Sadly, we know all too well Lerner IS an idiot.

I’ve read some sporadic criticism of Moyes which claims he’s no better than Lambert. This is absolutely laughable. He would represent a massive upgrade, but the way I feel at the moment, I wouldn’t be too choosy who we got in.

  84. I don’t want to get your hopes up lads but my friend saw David Moyes at VP for the last home game ( or was it the one before) We can only dream of having David Moyes – who would be ideal in my mind – we have the stumbling block of that four year £8 mill plus contract to get over. That and Fox having to admit to such a glaring mistake in his first month of office. I just can’t see it unfortunately.

  85. Well, we know Randy wanted moyes a few years back…..

Jenny- he got his new contact because we won 3 games out f four. Unreal. The only hope is Randy won’t be able to sell if he knows we are going down, and we will do with Lamberk as manager so he will have no choice but to sack him

We’ve already lost 5 games in a row and it will be 6 after Sunday

  86. That worries me too Jenny, but these days quite a lot of clubs sack a manager but continue to pay him weekly until he gets another job rather than paying the full length of the contract. The hope being that Lambert is determined to at least partly restore his reputation and take another job, so it might not cost as much as the colossal sum you mention.

This is dependent on Lerner and Fox being clever enough to take that route – or even wanting to sack him – which I admit is wishful thinking. But clutching at straws is about as good as it gets at the moment.

  87. Steve – It will depend on what is in his particular contract but the standard fixed term employment contract would entitle PL to be paid off for the contract period (unless he is in breach ). As a lawyer and if I was advising PL , there is no way I would recommend agreeing to anything short of the standard legal entitlement . It works both ways : 3 /4 years is relatively short employment security (even though they’re earning fantasy money ) which justifies the principle of paying off to the end of the term . I really can’t see PL settling for less and unless he was so badly advised to agree to a let out clause with a fixed fee compensation being payable , then his contract is a huge problem for Randy Lerner and newly appointed Fox. Like you say , it is open to the parties reach agreement outside the contract – but why would PL kiss good bye to £8 million . Didn’t he end up suing Norwich for something ?

  88. Great improvement. QPR only managing to score 2 goals means Villa have improved by conceding one less goal per match. At that rate we should manage a draw in the next 3-4 games-fantastic :). Not long now and we’ll have the most goals, goals conceded that is.

What we now know is that we’re in for more of the same again as served up in recent seasons, being disappointed to the point of becoming numbed and apathetic.

    Hey. Have a nice day.

  89. There’s a rumour on twitter saying Lamberk will sacked if Spurs beat us 4-0

Apparently he has a 1 year pay of Clause

Grealish has just scored a 25 yard screamer for u21’s

Ironic after what he’s done to him since his new contact

  90. That’s v interesting Matt : In commercial emolument contracts a fixed term is a fixed term unless there is an option for either party to give notice to terminate , which in short term contracts is extremely rare. The only circumstances where a tribunal would be referred to would be where the parties disagree and are claiming breach of contract and compensation / damages, This is how commercial contracts are drafted but if football have adopted different practice as Matt says then Id love to know what has been agreed this time . Is Lambert going to sign up to an extra 2 years security say £4 million / maybe .

  91. Frem – Howard Hodgson tweeted that “someone at the club ” told him PL got four years with a one year compensation payment if things went badly. Good for club if that is true but it’s a big IF. Who at the club would leak such highly sensitive info : breaching Data Protection, employment contracts etc etc. I find this extraordinary – and even more surprising that HH would put it on twitter ! I’d take with a salt seller !

  92. Jenny- more like 5 or 6-0 then ? 😉

If the rumour is true, it won’t be a bad thing if Spurs hammer us. It’s for the greater good if it gets the clown out of this club

Good point, I don’t know why anyone would tell someone that but maybe it is true. I hope so
