How do I register for/login to the site?

To register, please send an email with your desired username and password via the contact form here

Why do you need my e-mail address?

We need an email address in order to know who comments are coming from, and for you to be able to reset your password if you need to. Don’t worry – we aren’t going to spam you with messages on cheap Viagra.

Can I contribute to the site?

Yes, assuming you meet our criteria for joining us a writer. Our predominate criteria is your involvement as a regular commenting community member prior to requesting to write for us. For more information on what is involved, please visit the following link – http://www.astonvillalife.com/joining-us-as-a-writer/

Is the site on Facebook?

We are, but we’re in the process of deciding if the platform is suited for us in the long term given the changes to Facebook’s feed settings. You can, of course, go directly to the page on Facebook by clicking here.

Is the site on Twitter?

Yes. The Aston Villa Life Twitter feed is a series of automated tweets about both articles on the site and of the top stories involving Aston Villa as a whole. If you wish to contact us via Twitter, please do so via the site owner whose Twitter name is @mturvey_star rather than the @astonvillalife account. If your query is urgent, please contact us via the contact forms on the site as Twitter is not a medium we communicate on every day in a guaranteed manner.

Can I post links to my own work/can I promote my own site/Facebook page/magazine/other content in the comments?

We have a strong policy regarding the promotion of external sites without the prior knowledge of the owner.

If you would like us to promote your personal site, cause, personal project, or if you have an interest in some form of link exchange, please contact Matthew Turvey directly via the contact option on site and request a link exchange or chance to have your requested project included in official links. DO NOT post links to your site without prior knowledge, such as in the comments section.

Please be aware that we do not allow the promotion of external projects without our official authorisation and that the posting of unsolicited links, especially to those of other Aston Villa sites for the use of self-promotion, or for the purpose of diverting readers from this site will result in any offending comments being removed immediately and your account being summarily terminated. We can not stress the importance of communication on this issue – contact us regarding any query that you have about link to any site/Facebook page/groups you run before you try to set up a link as you will be banned without failure for posting links to other sites that you run. Linking to articles that are written by national newspapers etc for the purpose of conversation is obviously allowed.

You may also not have a username that is the name of a business entity, that contains a non-personal trademark (especially if the username purports to represent that organisation) that looks like or is synonymous with a URL that you own & operate, that is specifically the name of an existing web page or other online platform, that contains offensive language, or otherwise appears as a username that is not a) your own name or b) generic nickname that does not refer to either an existing entity that you or another person may own.

We can not guarantee that we will accept a request for a link to be included on site, but please ask before posting in an unsolicited manner as whilst your site may or may not be approved as an official link with us, unsolicited links will always result in the banning of your account.
