Leicester claimed a vital point against Liverpool as they fought back from 2-0 to claim a 2-2 draw after two quick-fire strikes from David Nugent and Jeffrey Schlupp. Nigel Pearson will no doubt be looking for his men to build on this confidence boosting result this weekend.

Midfielder Riyad Mahrez has been one of the standout players for Leicester so far this season, clearly relishing the chance to test out some of the Barclays Premier League’s best defences. Not only does he lead the Foxes squad for total dribbles (39), he’s also had the highest number of attempts on goal of any Leicester player (29), hitting the target with 58.6% of his total efforts according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index.

Despite being known more for his efforts with the ball at his feet, Jamie Vardy has also compiled some impressive defensive statistics as a result of his tireless workrate and desire to help the team. He’s won a superb 90.9% of his 11 challenges so far this season. Vardy is 5/2 to score at any time this weekend with 888sport.com.

Defensive stalwart Wes Morgan has been leading by example from the back this term, racking up a standout collection of defensive statistics to his name in the process. He is the only Leicester City player to have made more than 200 total defensive contributions this season (248)(interceptions, blocks, clearances, tackles won), a total that also places him 7th overall in the Barclays Premier League according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index.

Aston Villa could only claim a point in a stale 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day, in a result that left Villa just short of the top 10. Paul Lambert will no doubt be expecting a response from his side this weekend against the Foxes.

Although the spotlight is often shined on Christian Benteke, his forward partner Andreas Weimann is often the man to supply the never-ending work rate and stamina in chasing down loose balls and making intelligent runs that allows him to shine. No Villa player has completed more sprints than the Austrian international who has 1,096 to his name according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index. This marks him out as the only Villa player to have surpassed the 1,000-sprint mark this season.

Midfielder Carlos Sanchez has seamlessly fitted into the Villa system since arrived in the summer, establishing himself as one of their most consistent performers. Not only has he attempted the second highest number of challenges of any Villa player this season (58 – winning 77.6%), behind only Tom Cleverley (69), he’s also completed a pass in the opponent’s half on average once every 3.5 minutes he’s been on the pitch this term.

Striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has once again been showcasing his pace this season to great effect, enabling him to get in the position to score his three goals so far this term. Unsurprisingly, he has hit a higher top speed than any other Villa player this campaign, recording 34.8km/h against Southampton in late November. Agbonlahor is 57/17 to score at any time this weekend with 888sport.com.

  1. Obviously we are all looking for some forward movement arising from the possession football and maybe the fact we are playing away could mean that the Foxes are more attack-minded than parking the bus tactics we experienced in recent basement fixtures.
Despite my view that Lambert has not got the tactical nous required to deliver the goods, I sincerely hope we progress towards safety early-on in the back end of the season. A good performance against Bournemouth could produce some dynamic to help the league performances.
On another note, and following on from recent posts regarding the barriers we feel between the club and the followers, I found this piece on Daisy Cutter quite interesting.http://www.thedaisycutter.co.uk/2015/01/disassociation-football-how-the-game-has-become-faraway-so-close/ (not sure how you highlight s hyperlink here so you will probably have to copy and paste.)

  2. Interesting article in the Daisy Cutter … thanks!

While many of Villa’s players certainly experienced the sense of “family” into the 1990s, it has certainly been an element that has transformed mainly into a formal exercise. The old family days are gone, no doubt. You can’t meet the players on the bus anymore … but maybe it’s because we don’t use the buses these days?!!

BTW … “Daisy Cutter”. An expression that old journalist and Villa fan Jack Urry coined to describe Ollie Whateley’s shooting I believe. Now that goes back to ca. 1882. Olly was Villa’s 3rd England international and designed the 1890s Villa strip that basically lasted until the 1950s.

  3. A mine of information John – I forget who posted a link to Daisy Cutter a short while ago but I now include it in my occasional trawling; very well argued pieces I find.

  4. works fine Clive, interesting, sometimes I wonder which side is most deluded us or the management.
I read somewhere that our memories have a tendency when they get new information on an occurrence to rewrite what you thought was real at the time, so we cant even rely on what we think we know as fact. so its not surprising with the amount of guff written even by ourselves the waters are far from clear.

ST75- what’s the prize for the comp is my £20?

I see Mr Bent is having a dig at Lambert in an cowardly way. If he has issues why doesn’t he just say? he’ll be gone at the end of the season talking out could do us a favour . Either put up or shut up.

    http://www.caughtoffside.com/2015/01/10/18m-aston-villa-striker-hints-at-personal-problems-with-paul-lambert/?

as for the game leicester should come at us so hopefully we will get to practise some passing in their half not ours. bothe teams have horrendous scoring records but we have a better defensive record.
trinity posted about a cnn headline yesterday, could it be our potential new badge motto?
“Aston Villa: Does it get any duller than this?” we’ll need a bigger badge.
I’m gonna go for .75 to .55 win for villa

  5. The more I Read The Berks quotes in the Press, the more and more I want to see him fail so even he has to stop lying to the press at one point. He’s saying how well we’ve been oplaying. Erm, no, know we haven’t been playing. Patt Murphy ripped apart on the radio apparently.

Today, bottom of the league, no even he can polish a turd if they beat us, but I’m sure he will try

The fans turned against Blackpool, and I hope they do again today. Then come arsenal Chelsea and Pool I think. 3 more defeats and no goals scored. He can’t survive that

It’s Time for Fox to sack our second worst manager in our history

  6. foxes are begining to find there feet and although we have a better sqaud and should win , other sides seemed to be more well drilled than us and play fully to there strengths , there is a chance we could be undone today

villa win but more in hope than expectation

  7. If the foxes show the same heart and play like they did against Liverpool, and we play like we have been recently, we will lose.
Lerner has dispensed with all services of the companies charged with finding a buyer, without having a buyer lined up.
Does this mean TF has persuaded RL to stay, ensuring his own job, it all points to more years of misery and heartache with these carpet bagging scumbags staying in charge, which in turn means Lambert will see out his full contract, as RL won’t sack him.
Looks another let down of a window, shite like Sinclair llinked, although I did find it disheartening to read we can’t even afford the £2.5m fee, the mismanagement at this club is criminal

  8. b-62- strange news, could be he’s found his own buyer too, but if he’s staying surely that makes Lambert less than bulletproof as he is no longer just waiting for a sale and will need to get the fans onside again?

  9. Mark
I’d say it’s makes him bullet proof as long as we stay up, minimal outlay for massive TV revenue , if say Benitez or someone like that came in he would want to use most of the TV cash for transfers and wages

  10. B-62 its possible but sky will stop turning up at villa park if crowds drop further and the football remains this boring. losing £20-£25 mil gate reciepts plus placings money plus games on tele? wouldn’t make sense as you might as well spend, you would make the same money and get less hassle and a better product to sell.

  11. Read that last night about The possibility of Randy now staying because the people who he hired to look for buyer have now stopped.

    Not good

  12. Maybe if he stays, he might have a change of heart and try to do a better job, probable wishful thinking. At the moment, Villa is a bad advertisement for English football.

  13. Mark,
I would say it’s Lambert who is the coward, how many times did he say he never had aproblem with Bent when it was obvious that he had. He played everyone bar the tea lady before him including BOWERY ffs.
Bent is still only 30 and he’s wasted two years when he should be at his peak, AVFC is toxic to anyone with any quality.

1-1 today but i hope Albrighton rips the absolute shite out of them just to show what a knob Lambert is.

Can’t see Lerner staying under any circumstances, just how obvious is it that he hates everything to do with AVFC, unless he’s contacted a fatal illness then the next best option is that he has a buyer, personally i can’t wait for the gobshite to fuck off because this club won’t survive much longer while he and his puppets are at VP.

  14. Sunderland are so poor and we couldn’t even muster up a half arsed attempt to beat them. 0-0. 90 mins of awful slow pointless sideways and backwards passing that the Berk loved .

Steamer- You think we will score as many as a single goal? You do ask for a lot

  15. steamer- don’t get me wrong I’m not putting Lambert in the right, its just why does bent hint at something ? either say it or don’t. he could put a big hole in Lamberts dinghy if he speaks out. as for why he doesn’t play him that’s been done to death.

  16. Mark,

Who knows? Urry’s description was not totally original anyway …. traditionally a “daisy cutter” was a cow or sheep (!!) and it could be that it was hijacked into cricket before Urry. In football, I think Urry was the first to use it.

  17. Hello all.

I hope St75 is ok as I haven’t heard from him lately 🙁 xx

Surely we can beat Leicester . Our players always play excellently and we are now dominating games with our high possession stats and what is wrong with 0-0 draws anyway. I think goal scoring is over rated and no doubt we will be brilliant. It’s great keeping it in your own half as it gives everyone a chance on the ball – including Guazn. The gaffer is is saying today that our midfielders are going to start chipping in with the goals to add to our fantastic tally by our strikers. Johan Kruyf eat your heart out as Paul Lambert has reinvented the passing game. No wonder our players are enjoying playing it so much.

On the question of old sayings, I asked my daughter to make me “a cup of Char” don’t know where it comes from but my Mom used to say it.

Feeling very happy as we have brought a new puppy home today 🙂

  18. According to the Telegraph DB assumed it was personal reaons why he wasn’t played. That is fair enough when his last games for AV he scored two in two (came on as sub in game against WBA and scored) then dropped to the bench and inspite of PL saying he had a chance, he didn’t play when Benteke was out. Not cowardly at all – he was asked a question “why weren’t you played” and he gave his opinion. He can’t prove it was personal but on the facts and his previous goal scoring record it looks like it was.

  19. and we should be two down. We’ve created feck all as usual but Lamberk will still say we created chances

Gabby just skied one. One god awful football player

apparently we’ve bid for some Valencia player

  20. So LCFC missed two sitters, hit the bar and should have had a pen

The closest we’ve come is Konchesky booting it out for a corner

  21. Well.

Having read Bent’s article, listened to the pundits on Sky this morning, including Paul Merson, and heard the first half commentary on today’s game, that is enough for me for today…….Another load of Villa sh**e.

  22. Weimann will come on for the 2nd half.Oh so predictable.Contain, defend, defend, then when we go 1 down, what do we do now?Don`t get upset Frem,it`s the same every week.

  23. God we’re pathetic, aren’t we?
Cole, Cleverley, Westwood, where’s the penetration? Only player we have who creates anything and a future star isn’t even on the team sheet, says it all! Nzogbia should be shipped out this window, he’s been such a massive disappointment in claret and blue it’s not even funny! How did Fox sign this clown to a new four year contract, in bloody credible!!!

    UTV

  24. Jen,
Dunno if S75’s ill or not, it’s hard to tell at the best of times, i reckon he’s got a recurrence of his rabies trouble. Got a growler then ?
Think char is an Indian thing, they had char Wallas who’d make you a char during the raj, the funniest bloke in ‘It Ain’t Half Hot Mum’ was a char walla with a snake belt around his turban who was always coughing up.

  25. no width, no wonder he is trying to buy wingers. hutton and sissoko useless as providers and their runs are non existant like two statues. clarke fast becoming a class CB

jen- don’t buy the “it might be personal” slant, it either is or it isn’t . could just as well say it might be for footballing reasons. If you have a bad relationship with your boss you know it, there’s no might about it. if he’d said we don’t see eye to eye that’s a different matter.
what sort of dog is it?

  26. Ron,
It could only happen at Villa, we really are the pits. If Lerner stays on ST’s will go right down the gurgler.
Everyone and his dog knows that Scraggy is a handicap so apart from giving the parasite another contract, the other parasite makes him an automatic choice, the club is full of winkers. Lets go the whole hog and ship in six, the knob still won’t get booted but perhaps the Mail may realise that something is not quite right at VP.

  27. Steamer,
I almost forgot to tack on that the only other player who could change the game wasn’t resigned and surprise surprise is tormenting US…Albi.

Who is making the important decisions at this club?

The only thing we have to be proud of are the away supporters who are singing their hearts out as always!

We had better bring in a couple of attacking players this window or it’s right back into the familiar relegation scrap… is anyone else getting sick of this rubbish?!??!?!?

Lambert is such a poor manager. I’ve said it 1000 times if I’ve said it once. Good managers when things aren’t working make changes to either personnel or formation but this idiot NEVER does that. They are called substitutes Wankert… use them!!!

    UTV

    UTV

  28. Ron,
Always rated Albri, even last season whenever he played he won MotM in most of the papers but you knew gobshite wasn’t going to re-sign him despite his BS.

  29. Still can’t take a corner 30,000 quid a week and can’t lift a pill 25 yards, Cole even put one behind the goal, what a pathetic bunch of useless tw@s.

  30. We had better not sign Cleverley!

Pls Pls Pls sell our beloved club Lerner and take Wankert with you.

I’m just fed up of being embarrassed to be a Villa fan and sadly it has come to that.

Weimann on for Cole so where is the creativity supposed to come from… Gabby ahahahaha!

    Hopeless.

    UTV

  31. Villa are so shit it’s embarassing, and if things continue we will be exchanging places with blues, they are flying and it shows what can happen if you get the right bloke in, Lambert had a worse record than Lee Clark, yet he remains, Blues made the change and are heading towards the play offs, whilst we plummet.
    #Lambert Out

  32. Lambert has to go. If Fox has anything about him whatsoever, which I doubt.

And Lerner you incompetent dickhead, the reason you haven’t been able to sell the club is because you’ve ruined it so you won’t get anything near your asking price.

  33. “Yeah but,the fixture list has been rought,we have a group of winnable games coming up,Albion,Swansea,Palace S`land Leicester” if I hear that written anywhere again I will kick the cat. It`s a fallacy and we fail against the top and bottom teams.

  34. You have to say that anyone with an ounce of self respect for either the club or himself would resign, that’s the calibre of staff Lerner employs. Fox, if you haven’t the knackers to boot him give me a bell, i’d relish it.

  35. Messi is rumoured to be premiership- bound . Without any hyperbole intended , have villa any right to even share the same oxygen as the bloke.
Its like having a close family member whose committed a serious crime, you want to support them but you know they deserve whats coming to them.

  36. Frem – Matt K isn’t villa corespondent any more – looks like he’s been moved sideways and another bloke has taken over . Makes you wonder whether he wasn’t towing the line with the false praise

  37. Jenny: “a cup of Char”

It’s from Hindi, Jenny. Like a lot of works like bungalow and khaki, they come from the Indian sub-continent, adapted and brought back to the UK by people who served out there.

  38. Well guys, would any of you be bothered to watch the rest of the season? What keeps us coming back for another kick in the nuts? It’s this site. That’s what it is. A place to come to and hold everyone together.

  39. Jenny,

Om Matt K. Yes… I mentioned that a little while ago. I was in correspondence with Matt T about my book and he suddenly said he wouldn’t be able to do a review on it. When this new Gregg feller came in he ignored my e-mails completely, despite Matt’s request for him to look into it.

  40. John, you must have taken the words right out of my mouth because I’ve been left utterly speechless by the latest humiliating display of non-football Lamberk style!

  41. Another shit. performance, inept, clueless tactics, I’m starting to proper hate Villa, they empitimise dross, beige team, shit home support, no ambition, just making up the numbers, we might as well close up shop, these cunts are taking the piss out of us.
We will go down, 11 league goals all season is fucking pathetic, Lambert and Lerner are a pair of cunts, Fox seems to be no better than his ginger predesessor just another yes man.
We are worse than the blues, we better not pull them out in the cup or we will have to suffer the indignity of losing to those inbred cunts.
Lambert has to be sacked tonight, or just fucking kicked to fuck

  42. John – re Matt . Oh , I missed that . How rude of his replacement .

Tom Ross phone in – irate villa fans on phone in . Blues win again – no money but a new manager .

  43. our red cards are beyond a joke are the fa punishing us for our shite play clark done nothing to warrant a second yellow
subs wiemen how predictable didnt clevery miss open goal just prior to it richardson for sanchez why why zog on in injury time what point think lot more from bent to come out
swansea west brom cpal sunderland leicster blackpool ONE GOAL ONE GOAL AND ONLY FEW SHOTS ON TARGET
fed up with charlie nicolas mcinally defending lambert no money well that today he started 8 his signings didnt they do well
as for lerner letting go who he had trying to sell club even god himself couldnt sell our mess

  44. I agree with Runtingz Lamberts tactics stink, his use of the two fullbacks to create width is killing us. they are both ok if there’s space to run into and the ball played in front of them as in counter attacking, in a possession style there hopeless and we are way too narrow and way to stupid to break teams down otherwise. Benteke is totally pissed off as he gets zero chances created for him. Okore and Clarke played as a two at the back with Sanchez screening and that was hard enough, then he took Sanchez off what a knob. If Lambert doesn’t go I’m going with steamer to push his leg for him.
can we talk about Jens dog now?

  45. Jen,
Also Doolally, my Unc was in India during the war at a place called Dawahli or similar.

Greg Evans is a total knob, i thought you were supposed to a a certain amount of knowledge in your work, not him.

  46. Mark: Benteke is totally p*ssed off as he gets zero chances created for him.

Perhaps, but CB (again) did little to please. Again he made himself look a bit like a carthorse. Yet we know what he can do.

  47. jen/JL I thought the same but char is the English version of a Chinese word not an Indian word. chai is the indian version of tea which is really milky and has loads of herbs in like a masala also about 18 sugars a cup 🙂

    from the royal museum

“It is generally thought that ‘char’ is an Anglicisation of the Indian word for tea, but ‘char’ is in fact quite a close version of the Chinese for tea, tcha. Tea was grown exclusively in China until the middle of the 19th century, and increasingly large amounts of it were sold to Britain from the early 18th century as it became a more and more popular drink.”

  48. thank fuck l caught l that horrible flu bug and l wasnt able to go and see that load of sh ite and it was a birthday prezzie , l said when that twat came he wont be any good for the villa and l wish there was some kind of bet l could have had at the bookies to say this bloke is clueless and out of his depth, l would of been taking a few of us to see Brasil , on the winnings, and why the fuck would you want to give the useless shit money to get new players , l agree with B62 we could (will) be swopping places the noses , l got a call off jb saying “listen to this” it was the away fans waking up and singing Lambert out, and l was called a lucky cunt for not being there , the clubs a disgrace , liverpoo, arses and chelsea . next games , were down , but!!!!!!!!! you know you’ll get someone out there saying his hands are tied ect ect ect .

    Hi Jennykins
Hows the dog , will be in touch xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

steamer .michael Bates wore the snake belt lv got all the series if you want to watch them .

the cunts on the radio , jeeez that bloke is delusional , dab radio with sub-titles and its coming out with some right shit ,

back to some knobs and hot water methinks

  49. Bradford City cost 7,500 but multi million pound Villa couldn’t beat them over two legs, blows that argument out of the water, Alan McInally made a career on one great goal, he was shite and flopped everywhere he played, I saw Nicholas make his Arsenal debut at Wolves, he was the slowest, fattest footballer iv’e ever seen, even worse than Mcinally, when you look at most of the pundits most were tripe of the highest order.

  50. evening all!

There’s no other to say it , we will be going down.

Hate to say this as after the last few of years crap, as i thought w’d e just keep running away to fight another day.

    Not this time 🙁

  51. James gill- I agree on the second booking, I have hired a Tandem to take cleverly to everton.

JL – did you know we produced opium in India and Afghanistan to trade with China for tea? we only began growing our own when a chest of seed was smuggled out of China as that was the only country that grew it.
on Benteke, on this showing I agree looks lethargic, probably depressed.

  52. Steamer- interesting, did you know that Lambert is the only word that translates as clueless Scottish c*nt in every known languages except Scottish, where it means Twat.

  53. JL, Mark and jen,

char and chai are both indian, ( but can be / mean anything really as i know a east asian guy at work whose surname is chai)

its all in the dialect/ regions you come from

char is from punjab ( north india mostly sikhs) , down to dehli – ish
, chai is hindi – which covers north to right down to south ish

there so many ( at last count 50 ish) languages it realy hard to say

  54. Mark,

Since I’m married into an Asian family I have come to find out quite a few things about the Far East. 😉 It so happens the Middle East too as I did an in-depth study of Islam.

Did you know that rubber plantations in Malaya only came about because some British guy smuggled some tree samples out of South America?

  55. Rogermuffin,

Thanks for writing that on char/chai. Yes, despite what Mark says I tend to believe Char is derived from India (the Punjab).

Mark, you will find that very often the big museums get ioit wrong – just like Egyptologists who keep on insisting that the Sphinx and Giza Pyramids can’t be as old as 10,000 years.

  56. He said: “I thought the final third for us let us down.

“We never had enough in the final third. We had a lot of the ball but in the final third where it mattered we just didn’t produce it.

“We have to put that right. We have to do better in the final third of the pitch.

“It’s the last third of the pitch that is hurting us at the minute. We have to keep working hard and hopefully it will turn.

“You have just have to keep working hard, keep working hard at the training ground, keep everyone upbeat and keep the lads believing that it will come.

“As I said to them in the dressing room, the effort and commitment was there but you just need to be better in the final third.

“We need to find a way to get our good play goals.”

    This dick ain’t gonna walk.

  57. steamer,

if he turns it around then all good. …………………………………………………………………….ha……….ha….
    great , ( haaa ha,….-..he he ………..haa .. gurlge, banghead……………… sorry lost control then).

we are going down, defence is great , but we needed a defense 2 years ago , when we had an attack.
we dont have an attack and

  58. JL- whoa big man!! despite what mark says? forget the museums version then, tea was shipped all over the world for years by us from china so maybe the Indians got it from the chinese 🙂 I was merely putting forth an alternate theory 😉
that said totally agree on historians, same with science not very open minded are they if it upsets there income.
what do you think about the theory that the sphinx has running water damage on it and that it was once one of a pair of gates?

  59. And Heroin is a British creation.

    JL,
I noticed all the blame was put on the players, Lambert & his ‘effin Jeerman badges can’t be wrong can they ?
If the quality isn’t there it’s not suddenly going to appear especially if the manager plays a system that discourages creativity.
This is the year we depart.
Notice only Hutton applauded the fans, Flabby, the legend, the captain was first off.

  60. roger- god knows mate, was wondering if senderos was fit yet?
benteke needs a team that has more than one threat. we don’t stretch sides unless its on the break. first season we broke quickly and he had a fair service from the fullbacks and gabby/weiman this year its non-existant and he has no space to operate in. that said he looks less than enthusiastic

  61. mark, hope sendross is fit , otherwise there’ll lots of panic at the back for the next few games on the way down down, deeper and down, to the bottom.

calm keep and support villa , even its rip

  62. Mark,

I’ve read all kinds of theories and some may be the truth and others near to it.

That the Sphynx is feline in shape and that its age (according to cosmologists) is linked to it pointing in the direction of the rising of the Age of Leo some 12,000 years ago (or whatever it is) smacks of commonsense to me, particularly as we know the ancient civilisations placed great emphasis on astrology.

  63. Can’t say i agree with the knocking of tekkers apart from the fact he doesnt have a clue about the offside rule

but again without proper structure and everyone knowing what there roles are in order to win games all of these guys are going to look bad out there

teks is prehaps the best player at the club but until they all get the right type of leadership and instruction we aint gonna see much from the guys out there — imo

  64. Rogermuffin/Mark,

I forgot to add that though there are a lot of “languages” in India, they mostly (pretty well all) derive from Sanskrit.

Urdu (spoken in Pakistan), also, is a mix of Arabic and Hindi – Hindi being derived from Sanskrit.

  65. runtings,

I totally agree that CB has great talent – but visible when his confidence is high.

As things are just now, I’m almost feeling that he’s under instruction from Lambert to play to a team game and not to use his individuality. But it’s his individuality that is his main strength I feel: but we’re not seeing it. He seems a mere shadow of his former self, just going through the motions.

  66. JL yes but aint they all — the team lacks confiedence and direction – after playing for his country tekkers comes back to the mess that is aston villa — he is key to a talented young side at international level and such is the shape , movement and intellgence he flourshes withn the team

  67. i also noticed this in today’s game about tc and westy

westy is a bit more creative, & but can;t really hassle the opposition,
    TC is the opposite

however neither one wants to , or cant to shoot from distance.

i when i used to play i shoot shoot from 20 30 yards, or just lob it at one of the corners of the goal.
    Sometime those go in.

I meant just shoot it might go in ,dammit. or at least force the keeper to spill it and maybe we score from that?

  68. JL- me too John, yes I agree that makes sense. also the positions of the stars and planets were calculated to match several pyramids too that they don’t quite match now.

  69. Mark,

Exactly. Science (of course) can’t believe the non-conventional ideas as they’ve not been proved according to the basis of science.

A pointer of interest: look up Dr. Carmen Boulter in YouTube (if you haven’t already). Some interesting stuff there.

  70. WBA new manager. Win
    Palace new manager. Win

They will both finish above us of The Berk stays. He’s Said we need creative players. What a Knob.

He doesn’t know what wingers are or creative players. Our full backs provide the width and neither are good enough going forwards

  72. rogermuffin,

Oh my… The conspiracy theory of mine (of Villa being erased from the history books – except mine!) seems to be a fact.

What with the Beeb’s error last week, and now this news, seems to confirm it.

To think I was brought up with the slogan “Aston Villa is the greatest football club on Planet Earth.”

  73. All the talk of sphinxters made me wonder , where’s sww.

i missed this earlier but i concur!

i think we were cursed a long time ago, by the all the southern gypys / aleister crowly/ dancing on all those leyline, with whoever else.

& your conspiracy is the evidence, and bbc footy all media in general doing their best to ignore /fob us off, its been going for al long as i can remember ( last 20 years) maybe much more than that.

    🙂

  79. s75 by the way, my manflu would have gone sooner but for all the bottles of brandy / vodka / beer , that i drank trying to get rid if it. i think that made it last longer!

  80. Glad I fell asleep.
It’s about time Gabby got a good talking to. I obviously didn’t watch the match, but as Villa’s senior player and resident “legend”, he really needs to do more. Gabby can be devastatiing, but usually he doesn’t score and has too many quiet games. That can be said of Weimann too. If the ball isn’t getting to them, they should go and get it.

Even Lambert has gone from using words like brilliant and fantastic to using “hopefully”. Lerner’s not going to get a buyer for Villa for more than 70 mill. Lambert looked a shaken man today. If he thinks he can’t do the job, he should just take care of his health and walk. He’s probably a millionaire.

  81. What is that song title???

    “It’s all over now”………

Just about sums up the last six weeks of ineptitude……..No real team…..no real manager……and now ….no fans to support them……..RIP……the Claret and Blues……and to cap it all….the Bags and the Blue Noses are winning……

  82. 7.5 mill for Delph. He doesn’t want to be at Villa so take it

Cancel Cleverly’s loan, get Janizaj Sinclair and Gill and sack Lamberk

  83. trinity- Lamberts eyes looked red rimmed, definitely some sleepless nights there. he looks haunted, a dead man walking and so he should. Managers do what they can but the shower on the pitch have the power to change things but this lot have very little know how and that’s my worry. we have potentially a decent spine in guzan clarke okore sanchez and benteke, westwood too is decent but the endless lack of know how in the attacking third is criminal. pray a new man can find a team with some guile.

  84. Mark
Dont mean to be crude, however I think he also has a red rimmed arsehole because he gained a new 4 year contract , God only knows because it cant be football related.
Talking of God, he is the only one that can save us now.

  85. Gardner off to Forest as well…..Vlaar on the sick……Delph off for £7.5million…..

Anyone left to play before we call in the reserves from the Gasworks team……Hope everyone is signing the Change Org petition to make Lerner realise that the time is up for Lambert…..get everyone to sign this weekend….and show how we are ALL dissatisfied ……

  86. Mark
It sounds like Villa went into this match thinking they’d already won it just by turning up. That’s an attitude problem. Where’s the leadership?
I still think Villa will survive this season, but more of the same next year will not be tolerated. Lambert knows this, and he knows his head is first on the block. He saw what happened to AM. Lerner is untouchable because of the TV millions. That said, he only gets the millions while Villa is in the Prem League. Lerner, Fox and Lambert must know by now that they’re playing too close to the zone of no return.

  87. Trinity – I didn’t even fall asleep – I watched Match of the Day at 9 o’clock this morning as I couldn’t bear to watch a full game. Leicester were so entertaining we were not even last on.
I’m afraid my interest in Villa is waning now and I can’t wait for the Southern Hemisphere rugby to start up.

I enjoyed the language discussion and can add my pennyworth – the concept that the word Char might have come from China is not far–fetched – many of the SE Asian countries have people who originated from the south of China, including Thailand where the word for tea is pronounced Cha! It is possible the word was transported throughout Asia by itinerant workers or British people who worked in Hong Kong, Malaya, Burma plus all the islands in the South China sea, such as the Philippines, Borneo. The former British Raj buts up against Tibet.
    Final comment – Lambert Out!

  88. hey Clive guess what the Portuguese for tea is? Cha but then the portugusese had an Indian enclave 🙂 its Cha in mandarin too. Just goes to show how words travel across continents way before modern times

  89. Lambert sounded like he was asking Lerner to get creative players in during this window. Good luck with that.

Despite Lerner saying he’s learned a lesson nothe to push his luck he continues to do precisely that. Are there really 3 worse teams than us? In terms of playing squad, yes. In terms of current form, emphatically not.

  90. And now Poo come in for Benteke at 15m, if they sell him for that much they may as well close the club down, they may just though.
I think Lerner would do anything to damage Villa, ANYTHING, i feel that he took the hump with the McKnob protests and saw it as a slight on his ownership, a personal insult, if he gets his $$ back it wouldn’t surprise me in the least to see him put the club on a definite path to closure such is his vindictiveness.

  91. Steve W,
The winker wouldn’t play them anyway, we have TWO creative players in the squad, Cole plays every two months and Grealish can’t even get on the bench even with all the injuries and crepe.

  92. And don’t start me on Crappy, the fat bastard should stay away from KFC with his 70 pound orders, no skill, no goals and no effort.

Although i think we all know the answer, i think we’ll find out this week if Fox is all talk, no manager with a record as bad as Lamberts over the last three seasons should expect to be secure in his job, has Fox got the ball to boot him, i very much doubt it, the enemy within.

  93. HOW THE FECK IS HE STILL OUR MANAGER!!!!!!

We are now officially the most boring club in Prem history by going Twitter hash tags. Thanks Lamberk

Delph and Benteke off to Pool. Probably handing in transfer requests as we speak

Gutted. Not by those to going, just what we have we become. Fans fighting each other yesterday at Leicester. I hope Lamberk reads that

There thousands and thousands of tweets and blog posts yesterday after the game. Mostly of extreme anger but one stood out for me.

” I’ve been a Villa supporter for 55 years, and today was the first time I had tears in my eyes ”

It’s what it can do to grown men. Fox, Randy, Lamberk, the players, they don’t realise the love a person can have for a football club.

  94. Exactly Frem

Too often ,as fans we forget that the powers that br have the mentality of businessmen not fans. They never feel the hurt and disappointment, they see the club as a profit and loss account. That said from a fan or business perspective, how on earth Lambert is still employed at AVFC,is beyond my comprehension.Madness.
Mind you, sanity is overated.Sanity is just another form of conformity.Back to me strait jacket.

  95. Clive: the concept that the word Char might have come from China is not far–fetched – many of the SE Asian countries have people who originated from the south of China, including Thailand where the word for tea is pronounced Cha! It is possible the word was transported throughout Asia by itinerant workers or British people …

Yes, I don’t entirely discount that possibility, Clive, I think my reasoning is that in fact most Asian words that seem to have come into our vocabulary (usually modified) are Indian in origin … or Arabic (alcohol, algebra etc).

  96. Oh, btw, Clive, countries like Thailand, Malaya and Indonesia and other places out there were once heavily influenced by Hindus and Buddhists (and their language) from India.

  97. question is have they left it too late? if we get rid now and they have no backup in place this much needed transfer window could see us weaker if Lamberts transfers targets are vetoed. we could at the very worst lose delph, cleverly and possibly benteke. Vlaar is a injury nightmare ditto senders, cole and richardson. we could very quickly be threadbare and with a new manager with no chance of bringing anyone in.

  98. Nail on head Mark, you have hit it.The last clutch of games,if we had the luxury of breathing space,in other words 5 more points gained, then yes,we could tread water until the summer. However with a few serious beatings on the horizon,I believe we will go down. Not being dramatic,or even angry, the warning signs have been there for 4 years now,too late. But we must get rid and rebuild now to try and get promoted quickly.

  99. Mark,

But isn’t part of the problem that (as I see it) no matter who he signs seems to have to change their style to fit PL’s way of doing things – which used to leak goals and now fails to score any.

New signings are going to make little difference at the £3-5m level … we have to sign someone BIG to help turn things around as I see it.

  100. JL- interesting that the Portuguese re-established trading with china for the west before the 1600’s and there word for tea up to this day is cha’ . question is, and this is an assumption did they then trade tea with us under the name cha? the tea plant itself and its recorded use as a drink is Chinese as I’ve already stated. the name tea is different in a variety of Chinese dialects te being one, Cha is from mandarin apparently. we along with the Dutch and French moved into the far east with us winning out and establishing the tea trade by growing it in India giving English emigrants land to grow it. now tea was supposed to have been a brew reserved for the upper echelons in china so considering it wasn’t grown outside of china until we introduced it could it be we took Char from the Portuguese/mandarin name Cha and introduced it to India? 🙂

  101. JL- I both agree and disagree, he could get lucky with a couple of players that galvanise the rest, if no-one comes in we lose at least Delph and probably cleverly, recall Gardner or Johnson? we would be too weak going forward in my opinion for the new man to change our poor scoring record, as in previous seasons we still lack guile in the final third.

  102. a new manager now has to access all his potential players so does he recall all the players on loan bent etc?. all the other clubs got rid a few weeks ago to enable the new manager time to adjust and buy if needed. for that reason I cant see Lambert going don’t get me wrong he should be gone. by the time the next 3 games are over and we have another point the horse will have bolted

  103. B6,
Correct about warning signs, these big heads don’t take advice though, if they did then Lerner would have $$$ more in his bank account, ad we wouldn’t be in the crepe.

  104. “They pay a lot of money to come and watch and I don’t want Aston Villa to keep doing what they are doing.

“I think more importantly it’s the game, rather than people aiming things at myself. It’s the game and we didn’t do enough in the last third.”

This is the problem, the thick twat doesn’t/can’t believe that he is at fault and the fans want him out, the bloke’s a fuckin loony.

  105. Bannan playing at palace, Albrighton playing for Leicester, and Bent at Derby, while Gardner goes to Forest….

Anyone left after Cleverley goes to Everton, Delph to Liverpool , and then a bunch of sick notes and Clark suspended. Perhaps Given can play outfield?

Villa now chasing to complete a deal for Sinclair and maybe two more to try and keep Lambert in a job….

  106. WRONG WRONG WRONG the lot of ya ,,, l am holding a box of builders strength TEA bags and it says in black and white on the packet , ” Made in BARNESLEY !!!!!!!

    get off the wikipedia FFS.

BTW is that arse still in managment
