Well, Villa buzz down to play the Hornets this week having already lost to them at Villa Park.
We probably do not have any great expectation of anything by way of a win any more this season, so this is probably just going to be another fixture to grind out. However, Black has said that a reason why he’s not been playing so many youngsters is because of the poisonous atmosphere at Villa Park. But as this is an away match, I would have thought he’d be wise to throw caution to the wind on this occasion and bring ’em (the youth) on.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained, and if a youth-based team did happen to win (even draw!) then surely they’d also be worth playing against Newcastle in the last home match. If they’re not tried now then it will be an opportunity lost, in my view.
Meanwhile, the new series of Fans’ Consultation Group Meetings have begun, and in my view an air of more sincerity. Certainly, to get a positive response from the Club to my letter was something of a surprise to me after all the difficulties I’ve had with them this past six years, and a welcome surprise at that.
There has been talk of the club “imploding”, but the feeling for me is that such a situation will (just) be averted. But how the club has managed to sink back to virtually the same situation as in 1967 and then 1968 is beyond me. I thought General Krulak had the reputation of being a winner and backing winners, but the performance of his friend the owner over recent times must have shocked even he.
The effect is that next season the Baggies will be the only club representing the West Midlands in the Premier League, and their fans will be ecstatic about that, particularly if they do better than they have done this season. At least they helped Leicester one step more towards the League Title by nabbing a draw at Spurs on Monday.
The Foxes, the Potters and the Baggies now carry the pride of the entire Midlands. Who would have thought it five years ago?

Spot on JL, however all optimism has been squeezed out by Lerner and co so even with Watford in summer holiday mode they’ll still probably beat us. Regardless of 11 defeats in a row, I’d hate to think we’d get a win when the weight is off Lescott and the team’s shoulders. They don’t deserve to feel good about a win having relegated us.
Can Eric Black refuse to give interviews or at least be prepped by club PR not put both feet in it. No one is enjoying Villa’s situation unless you speak to the Small Heath inbreds. But at least you are paid to be a manager so just get on with the job of managing.
Only those U21s declared for the squad are eligible and every single one of them should be on the pitch, regardless of result, being away from home and having the best away support there is, i’d expect our fans are clued in enough to refrain from having a go at the players but still sing for Lerner Out.

Looking at that list of names of people employed by Lerner you have to admit that he certainly has a problem judging character and ability. He was conned out of $50m once but got it back in a court case. I think he’s a bit of a dummy to be honest, he’ll probably end up living in a ditch somewhere in Arkansas.

I said in February I couldn’t see us winning another game and I still can’t . Watford must be mad to question Flores’ worth : given that he’s brought in more new players than any other team in the prem . They’ve got good team spirit and belief which has preserved their premier league place . I predict another loss – it’s just a question of by how many .
Lambert has activated his notice clause – does any one know why ? hope they’re all not chasing the same job :-). .

It appears that Pearson would have been appointed but the takeover delays are impeding a managerial appointment.
So it looks to me that a move towards a takeover *is* a reality but something somewhere is holding things back.
I’ve read a lot about the club actually being sold 12 months ago for 150m but at the last moment due diligence goes wrong or the dummy demands more. I can’t see how Lerner is making such massive losses, anyway, apparently he may sell for even less than 40m just to rid himself of the problem that is AVFC. My personal opinion is that, if we avoid administration, he will sell off certain assets, JD reckons his pal runs Crest Homes and he said that Bodymore Heath would easily get PP and is worth 120m

I can see why you may be thinking that, but since people like Little, King *and* Hollis have talked about it then you should forget about it being “lies”.
There may well be prevarication on Lerner’s part, yes, and if you mean that Lerner has been misleading people then that’s nothing new, is it?
I believe Lerner does want to sell but (as Steamer keeps on saying) he wants to make sure he gets back a slice of the cake more than he’s due.
There’s also a suggestion that there may be as many as 3 separate parties interested in buying, so that obviously make it more complicated until the wheeling and dealing stops.

I had thought that the club were being petty in not increasing the seat allocation for Newcastle, but having seen the strength of feeling on some Newcastle blogs then maybe it was the right decision after all.

Don’t worry about the Geordies getting extra tickets, they have been snapping them up from sites like seat wave in ALL parts of the ground, there will be far more than the 2,800 official away end capacity. They look favourites to survive now, Rafa has turned them around they are much tighter at the back and going forward they create loads, they also seem to have found some team spirit, Rafa has completely turned them round. It is their fans dream scenario, both Sunderland and Us getting relegated it’s like winning the lotto for them, I also think Rafa will kick on with Newcastle next season and they will be pushing top 6/8. There investment looks to have paid off and I expect an easy win for them at VP. A sad indictment of how poor we are is they have more than double or points total, Sunderland have twice our total and will still prob go down.
This season has provided the fans with nothing but abject misery, as a fan I feel nothing but anger , extreme disappointment and embarassment at how AVFC have gone about things. I see no light at the end of the tunnel, I don’t believe there is a takeover, we can’t get a manager, the squad are divided and useless needing a complete overhaul and RL will pocket not only this seasons £70m TV cash but also the £40m parachute payment next year before he off loads us, no wonder VP is becoming a ghost town and we are closing down large parts of the ground, we are a club dying in front of a nation.

The papers have been full of reports that Villa are interested in signing Gary ONeil, Kane Hemmings and Ross McCormack and it makes you wonder why when we don’t even have a manager. The latest Supporters Consultation Group seems to be as toothless as the AVST judging by the decisions to revamp the North Stand and close down other sections of VP for next season. These decisions seem to have been made by people with absolutely no knowledge of football or AVFC.
Over the last five years, from the McKnob appointment, the club seems to be going out of its way to antagonise the customers, especially the loyal supporters clubs, the distribution of tickets to NUFC supporters shows a dangerous disregard for safety regulations and could, potentially, end in a disaster, not that our committee actually give a FF, in fact, who actually makes these decisions ?

We are a broken club and have been for years the world laughs at us, all this talk of a takeover is just that all talk, any manager worth his salt will give Villa a very wide berth for lots of reasons.
Stand closures seats being allocated for disabled fans in the lower north, no proper consultation with the fans, it is very evident that the customers are not being considered so just what is Hollis here to do, is Little actually having any input or is he just being used as a figure head to appease the fan base.
The nightmare goes on and on the barcodes must be rubbing their hands at the thought of coming to VP if ever you wanted to play someone in the midst of a relegation battle then AVFC is that team.
All hope is gone and has been for a while even if we had new owners how long would it take them to pull this mess around, could they be trusted to take us forward ok can anyone be worse than Lerner but it could be a case of out of the frying pan into a hotter one.

Well, Leicester have won themselves a PL title and brought it back to the midlands. Good for them. When will we see their likes again?
It won’t be nice to lose to Newcastle after the way they were treated a few years ago. They’ll be taking the mickey anyway. That’s the way it goes I suppose. Hope it doesn’t get violent.

I just hope we drag the Geordies down with us( although I doubt that is going to happen, they have us and Spurs at home as their last 2 fixtures). They will be bringing thousands to rub our noses in it, so I think it could turn nasty, I know the police and club are worried about Villa invading the pitch.
Can’t knock leicester for their achievements including super Marc , although I’m fed up of all the jokes at our expense, like the fact MA was released and has won the league and wine playing in the champions league, whilst we’re in the championship, also all the Veretout stuff from the summer is being dredged up after we beat them to his signature.
Matty Lowton has won promotion with Burnley( I always preferred him to Hutton), Weimann, Bent, Bennett ( should he stay at Wednesday), Bannon all have a chance of joining him, depending on which team wins the play offs.
