After the mutual termination of Gerard Houllier’s contract at the club, he has now spoken regarding the heart scare which left the club without it’s former boss for the end of the recently ended Premier League season.

Whilst the tenure of Gerard was one that split supporter groups, I am sure I can speak for us all to say that, no matter your opinion, everyone wishes and wished Gerard all the best with regard to his health. In an interview with the Mirror, Gerard said:

“The doctors advised me to not resume before late in August or early in September, so it was a problem. The officials were also scared my comeback could be postponed again at that time. I can understand that. The risk exists. They (Villa) are still traumatised with what happened last year, when Martin O’Neill left five days before the start of the season. So they didn’t want such a possibility to happen again.”

Still hoping to return to football

Despite admitting that recent health issues could have been fatal, Gerard has not ruled out a return to football as a manager saying “Coaching is my job, my life, my passion,”

He also added “Maybe I will go on living in Birmingham for six months or one year, to have a good rest. I am in the countryside and very close to hospital and that is the perfect place.”

Obviously I’m sure you will join with me and wish Gerard a full and complete recovery, and to wish him a long and healthy life.
