The site has been moved to a new server this evening. The main reason for the urgency is the site was slowing down and sometimes taking too long to load, which was clearly unacceptable. Whilst the sudden spurt of high traffic is great, it is imperative that the migration was made before the server ran to a stand still and we start losing traffic/users. You should now find that the site runs better, although we may need to scale the new platform further if things continue to escalate.

Check your email

You should have received an e-mail that contains a new password which you will need to use in order to access the site once we have moved.  Any prior passwords will no longer work as I do not have access to users passwords, and thus can not set them up as before. If you haven’t received an email automatically, please contact me via the “Contact” option at the bottom of the site so I can reset it for you.  Some emails may have had the IP address (a series of 4 numbers after http://) listed instead of the www.astonvillalife.com URL.  Please note that this was just down to the server migration, and I apologise for any issue this might cause.  Clicking the link in that earlier emails will still redirect you safely to this site.

After you have received the e-mail, that password will work immediately. You can then change your password once the server has migrated to one of your choice at http://www.astonvillalife.com/wp-admin.

Obviously new users may create an account as normal by clicking here.  This password change only affect users who created an account before 14th April 2011.

Forum items

Existing forum posts have not transferred, and thus any forum posts will need to be recreated.  I have added in a section for rumours which was the most active area prior to the move, and make particular apologies to users who have posted there already.  You may rest assured that now we are on our final server platform, there will be no issue with losing posts in the future.

I apologise for any inconvenience this migration may have caused, and would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your contributions to date.

If you have any issues using the site after this migration, please use the contact option at the bottom of the site, and I will be glad to resolve any issues.

Thank you for taking the time to read this article, and here’s to 3 points this weekend.

Cheers,

Matt T
