With transfer season continuing at a rapid pace, Aston Villa are being linked with names all over the place with the latest name to be suggested being Wilifried Zaha of Crystal Palace according to reports emanating from the Daily Mail.

Crystal Palace have become something of a breeding ground for young talent alongside Watford and Southampton with Palace having already produced the likes of Victor Moses as well as having players like Nathaniel Clyne and Zaha on their books at present.

With interest apparently fading with regard to young French winger Yacine Brahimi, Zaha may well be another player to supplement the recent dearth of wingers, what with Marc Albrighton and Charles N’Zogbia being the only available true wide players last season.

A sticking point for Zaha may well be the issue because he has been priced in the past around £10m. With Aston Villa’s recent signings tending towards the bargain basement side of spending rather than big money, this may be enough to refute a move for a young and potentially expensive acquisition.

Of course, much of this may well hinge on if the Yacine Brahimi deal does fold, or whether Lambert has different plans for the wide areas. At least with Brett Holman, N’Zogbia, Albrighton, and potentially another wide player, Villa will be more than capable of cultivating a healthy sense of competition in a previously sparsely populated area of the team.
