Vitesse Arnhem striker Wilfried Bony, reportedly a target for Aston Villa has apparently grown increasingly frustrated with moves by his club to prevent him from making a loan-to-permanent deal to the Birmingham club.

Bony, a 23 year old Ivorian striker with a solid better-than-one-in-three strike ratio in both the Dutch and Czech Republic’s top league, will likely be an alternative to Christian Benteke’s signing as Villa’s pursuit of multiple strikers in the same mould are all unlikely to come off, nor is it desirable for all of them to come.

After all, with Villa having Darren Bent as their primary striker, it is arguable that there is only one slot free at most to partner Villa’s £24m record signing, and that having as many strikers in as the prospective captures of Clint Dempsey and Christian Benteke, as well as the captured Jordan Bowery, and existing players Gabriel Agbonlahor, Andreas Weimann, and Nathan Delfouneso, would seem to be an overabundance.

Of course, nobody is ruling out exits from Villa Park either with defenders Stephen Warnock and Alan Hutton both available for transfer. Stoke City have also been linked with the currently injured Richard Dunne.

Getting back to Bony, quotes attributed to his agent from a report at Goal.com stated:

Wilfried is unhappy at Vitesse. He came to the training session this morning because he’s a professional. Aston Villa tried to sign him on loan with an option to buy him.

“Vitesse would get almost €10 million. Yesterday Vitesse said it was a deal, but in the evening they said that the only option was to buy and not loan.

“We were ready for our trip to Birmingham. Wilfried must leave Vitesse. He’s ready for a new challenge on a higher level. Or he risks losing his spot at the national team.”

So Bony may not get his move, or he may do. What do you think? Will Bony add some meat to Villa’s squad> Or are you unimpressed with the link to the Ivorian international?
