It’s the preseason routine that is carried out in every single club across the country irrespective of league. So my question to you all is where are we going to finish?

First Job—Get our Respect Back

My prediction for this season is simple. I am not bothered too much about style of football, formation, or whom we do or don’t sign. You see, what is important to me is Aston Villa. Over the last few seasons slowly but surely we have been losing our respect both as fans and as a premier league team.

We all know the reasons. I don’t really care about that anymore, either. What I care about is getting back the Villa we used to be. The Villa whose ground was a cauldron of noise, the Villa who weren’t scared of any team, the Villa whose players would wear their shirts with pride, and the Villa that never gave up. If we can get our respect back the results will follow. And if that happens then our place at the end of the season will be one that we have earned and deserve.

We have had seasons of turmoil and problem after problem. Our preseason has gone fairly quietly without to many issues, and bar a couple of injuries, we are going into the season in good shape. Our manager is the one wanted by the majority and for the first time in many years the fan base seems to happy and content compared to previous seasons.

Hold on, Easy Tiger

We need to remain grounded however, or it will lead to disappointment and unrest. Remember Lambert is a change in philosophy and mentality for the better. Change done properly takes time to do right. Far too often have we seen the bandwagon start up early doors season after season, which usually leads to a poor season. We have some tough fixtures to begin with and the last thing we need is the crazy gang striking up early on. Yes, we are Aston Villa and, yes, for whatever reason you want to use, we should be doing better than we have been. But we are where we are and things are changing for the better but change takes time.

Talking’s over now—the future is here.

For now, there is nothing left to say. We have discussed positions, formations, players, managers, even owners, but now the time for talking is over—at least till Sunday.
This weekend we are going to see our first glimpse of our future, and we will be glowing.

West Ham Away

For me, we should be winning this. When all is stripped back, players, money spent, grounds, recent results, blah blah blah, we should be winning this because we are Aston Villa and they are West Ham.

It is quite simple. Yes, they have signed a few players and they had a few decent players, but we are surely too good for them. We have sold them Collins, which surely gives us an advantage because, number one, he is not in our back four, and, number two, he is in their back four. If we set up as many predict and we play as Lambert has set his teams up to play in the past, then we should beat them, and beat them comfortably. This game will be won and lost at the back for both teams.

2-0 for me.

It’s here, it’s back, let’s start as we mean to go on. Lets be having you!!!

Keep the lions’ flag flying high!
