This is a short one from me, mainly because any day now it will break.

It seems Aston Villa are down to three, two of whom we already know who they are, but who could the third be? (Editor’s Note: And really, it seems we’re down to two now, one mystery and one Lambert, with Roberto Martinez apparently opting to remain at that greater-Manchester-area colossus known to rugby fans as Wigan.)

I would love to think that Randy has got all excited and phoned Andre Villas-Boas in a blind panic and had an interview with him, but what are the chances of that happening? Media reports are suggesting that the left-field option which was on the cards is now less likely. With that a number of candidates will fall out of the running—people like Laudrup, Ole, Grayson, Poyet, Paciencia, and Benitez will all look to have disappeared.

Now with that and the two we know about are we not getting the same old same old?

Other than the “mystery third person,” there isn’t anything that excites me. Having an unknown manager come in has huge risk but it provides excitement and anticipation. If we are to recruit who we have been linked to is that really going to change our club?

I don’t think the change is going to be as big as everyone was hoping it would be or as big as we need. I wanted a complete culture change, football philosophy, the lot. It looks as though that wont be happening though so what are we expecting? What is the plan going to be? And where do we see ourselves this time next year?
