Nine years ago, bombs exploded in our capital as part of a terror plot involving multiple suicide bombers. Now, as we reflect back on almost a decade since that fateful day – one where I recall a flurry of work phone calls warning us first of travel delays on the Underground, apparently caused by electrical issues, before fully becoming aware of the full extent of what had happened.

For many families, life was never to be the same again – some robbed of partners, parents, children, grandparents and grandchildren, their lives never to be the same after 30 minutes of morning mayhem.

So, as a nation remembers those who we lost on Thursday 7th July 2005, we remember the 52 who lost their lives, aged between 20 and 60 years old. May they rest in peace.
